First consultation with fertility specialist for IVF - what to expect?

My husband and I have been to the gp and had a letter to book an appointment with the fertility specialist which will be on the 25th March.
I have already had blood tests done but my husband due to a spinal injury is unable to give a sperm sample (they don't have equipment here in the southwest)
Do any if you ladies have any info on what to expect from this appointment and how long after did you start ivf?

  • Hi,

sorry to stick to your post. I’ve been trying to conceive for 2 years now and I’ll have my first appointment with the fertility specialist in May. Don’t know what to expect.
  • Hi

I have my appointment too in a couple of weeks, did your blood tests come back okay Pricey121? Have you had blood tests NokitaM? Im impatient to get the results for everything I think its hard work ttc and I feel like everyone around me is having kids right now too x

@Chester1 I had my blood test done 3 times as my prolactin was high but then the gap found out is normal because I have additional breast tissue. I done also RMI, scans and partner spermogram, everything fine. I think more we want more we pay attention to people surrounding us, for me the hardest moment was one year ago when my best friend gave the news that she was pregnant by “accident” as she didn’t wanted kids and the feeling that comes is that is so unfair.
  • That's good that your tests were fine, do you think they will refer you for ivf, is that something you want to try? I think the unknown is driving me crazy as we haven't had all tests yet and yeh its hard when someone gets pregnant quick not really trying, my friend at work just got pregnant literally only deciding she wanted kids at christmas, I try not to focus on it but its hard when its in your face x
