placenta previa

Hi ladies

wondered if any of your prem babies were so due to placenta previa. I am 34+1 today and had scan which says complete placenta previa. I see a specialist on Sunday and as this is my 5th baby they warned me he may do c section next week which would make baby 35 weeks! Am hoping they will wait till the 37 weeks.

I not had this before and would like any advice. I live in Middle East at moment and its not like having the NHS to rely on. I would fly home but too late and too risky now. I have to find hospital that will take me and my own specialist and neonatal doctor. My head spinning and I completley gutted

Hi denise, i dont know a great deal about placenta previa but i think its the placenta covering the opening of the cervix which would be a problem during labour. I know the thought of having your baby early is scary but your lo will be 2 weeks older than my son at birth and he is doing really well. Make sure you get steriod shots to mature baby's lungs. Your lo will be small and may need a little help with feeding for a short while until the sucking reflex kicks in. On the other hand your lo could be a really good size and not need any interventions at all.

If your lo needs to spend time in the neonatal unit, take every chance to have some skin to skin contact. I wore a nice soft fleece with nothing else under it and stripped Kenny to his nappy and popped him in and zipped it up. A large soft blanket would also do.

Good luck and iv got my fingers crossed that bubba will stay put.

    xx

    Hi
    thanks for your reply.

I will know more on Sunday as thats when I see speciailist.

IF I have even a drop of blood before then i have to dash off to hosp. I told not to lift little ones (hard as 3 and 2) and to rest up as much as possible. Have awful feeling I will have to be in hospital for next few weeks as precaution.
As we live abroad with no family present it is going to be tough. In laws will fly out as and when needed.
Hope all your babies continue to thrive and its good to see babies born much earlier than mine doing so well

    thanks
