intervention???

hi everyone im g/c from ttc...

really want a home birth for my third whenever i get preg.

my first baby was a pretty regular 7lb2oz BUT my second was 9lb 5oz...which some might say is quite a big weight jump...obv id be concerned that a next baby MIGHT be bigger again...and i got to wondering what if i needed forceps or suction (cant remember real name)? do they do this at home?

i havent needed this previously but just wondered. i know they can give you gas and pethidine/diamorphine in my area, but i dont know about this, thanks.

thanks ladies xx

  • Hi there no they don't use forceps or suction at home if you really needed it you would need to be transferred to hospital. But research says there is less need for medical intervention at home because you feel more relaxed and things are allowed to happen naturally.

I know someone who recently who is 4ft 10 tall size 8 clothes and had a lovely relaxed home/ water VBAC and a 11lb baby!!

  • thanks michele, that gives me a lot of hope!!

i am just thinking ahead to possible things that might happen.

dh is quite against me having home birth as no2's cord was round his neck as he was born, and it scared him alot, and he also had to be sucked out as he had swallowed meconium...so i am a bit worried and dont know if a homebirth is best x
  • I understand his fear but because its happened once doesn't mean its likely to happen again. Have you been on the homebirth website its really good and full of information.
