Last week the only Independently managed NHS midwifery practice in Britain was closed down leaving a large group of women without midwives
and stopping a midwifery practice which has been hailed as the gold standard of midwifery care.

Independent midwives have been able to lobby the local Trusts to consider us as a viable alternative to standard NHS care due to the success of the
Albany practice. It is of great importance that this practice does not just disappear.
