my cs birth plan

hi ladies, i know i found it very difficult to find a cs birth plan, let alone one that was concise and wasn't full of irrelevant stuff, so thought i'd share and hopefully it'll help someone...up until i was pregnant with my dd, i didn't even know u could do a birth plan for a cs, but it is still ur birth and the theatre staff do their very best to honour ur wishes.

i permit one medical student/student midwife to be present



Before my baby is born I would like:

my partner to be with me throughout

if there is a delay we wish to be kept informed regularly

I would prefer the use of a Spinal/Epidural



During my baby's birth I would like:

To have a commentary on what is happening

to have the curtain lowered at the moment of delivery

my partner to -trim' the cord if he wishes

to take photos whilst still in theatre

to hold my baby throughout the remainder of the operation

Stitches- dissolvable or suture?? No staples!

to put my baby to my breast as soon as is possible after delivery

my baby and partner to stay in theatre with me until i am transferred to recovery room



Postnatally I would like:



I would like my baby to be given the vitamin k injection

I do not want my baby to be offered artificial milk or teats

to breastfeed on demand

to be helped/encouraged to be mobile as soon as possible

to have the IV lines removed as soon as is feasible

to have catheter removed as soon as I am mobile enough to walk to and from the bathrooms

to be consulted as to when I will be discharged from hospital
