Admitted at 35+5 been given steroid injection. Will ds be ok?

Was admitted in at 35+5 due to labour like pains and being high risk for pre eclampsia in 2 of my prev 3. Been told babies lungs arent matured fully as below 37 week full term deadline. Iv never had it before (hurt like hell not going to lie) doc checked me yesterday he said im not dilating (barely 1cm at a push) but im softening... does that mean im progressing or just in case? Iv gotta be checked today but no idea whats going on. Has anyone else been through this n no what it means? Iv had very different labours n pregnancies each time n this is a new first
