Clomid and LTTC Thread :-)

Hello lovely ladies

Thought I would set up a new thread so we can all get to know each other better as there are a lot of new girls and it was a bit difficult to keep up on the old one.......

So might be an idea to all re introduce ourselves

TTC for: 18 months ish ( loseing track! )

Age: 28 and hubby is 25

Hobbies: I like socialising alot with friends, walking the dogs, and trying to keep fit but failing at the mo!!

TTC Journey: Started trying after we got married, have had SA done hubby all ok, i already knew i had PCOS and after just over a year we started investigations had 21 day bloods on ov detected, refered to FC where they put me on clomid, had one cycle @ 50mg, second @ 100mg didn't work had bloods done but no ov detected. So went back to FC and am now awaiting a lap and dye and ovarian drilling!!

Started reflexology had one treatment on a tuesday and the following weds had my first natural AF in 10 months!!!!! so keeping that up!

i am on about cd31 from that AF and no sign of AF lots of pains in ov and weird discharge recently.. so just awaiting AF now and we will just see how things go until my appointment for the lap and dye and ov drilling

  • Hello

I saw consultant at the end of May . he diagnosed mild PCOS and put me on clomid. I've just finished my 2nd lot of tablets so hoping for a BFP this month - ha trying to stay positive! Good luck ladies xxxxxx
  • Hi

I was here for a little while, but felt I was obsessing constantly, so haven't logged on in ages.

I'm 30. I have pcos, and am currently about to start 3rd cycle. Started at 100mg, no scans but day 21 blds during 1st cycle.. Haven't managed to find out that result yet! I've been told it's drilling for me too if the 6 cycles all fail.

Have finally convinced hubby to hand in a SA. It's odd, but the gp and fertility clinic didn't feel he needed checking- but if I'm having all these drugs I want to be sure there's a chance it'll work! That's going to be Mondays fun- after I finish a night shift, and before he starts his. We're totally working different hours at the mo- I'm not going to see him till Monday, and then not till Friday! Just more stress to the ttc malarky.

Anyway, that's me... I do dip in and out as I hate how obsessed I get, but I do love hearing that I'm not the only one, esp when I'm surrounded by super fertile friends and family.

  • Hi

I'm 31 and oh is 33 we already have 1 dd and are trying for our second. I had a mc Mar 10 and have been trying to sort my body out ever since! Had lots of tests including oh sa which was fine and a hsg again clear and so far they think have hormone imbalance. I went on hrt for 3 months to try and regulate my periods but again no luck.

I am now on clomid and norethisone in the hope i can ovulate. had my day 21 bloods back and only 0.4 :cry: so no where near what it should be. Now on second round and hoping for better results.

Well thats me. Lets hope for some BFP this month. Good luck to us all xxxxx
  • Heya guys nice to meet you all, especially the girls iv not really chatted to before.

Jennie good news about havign a scan though hun, as thats the best way to find out if clomid is working. I knwo in some places they do that and not the bloods as the scanning is more presice.

Poppy sounds similar to me apart from when on the pill my periods have always been all over the place!! Have you tried reflexology? I had it done one week and the following my AF turned up naturally for the first time in about 10 months. Not saying it works for everone, but i highly recommend it and so do a lot of people.

Pumpkin i know exactly what you mean iv taken breaks from forums on and off too as i find myself obsessing!! You really should find out your results lovely!! As there is no point in staying on the same dose and do all 6 cycles on clomid if its not making you ov...thats what my doc said which is why she stopped me after 2 cycles, so i can start a 3rd after the lap and dye and ov drilling. As your only aloud 6 cycles of clomid i think.

My FC wouldn't have done anything with me if hubby hadn't already done a SA for that very reason. So glad your OH has done one now. Least everything is heading in the right direction hunny.

I know what you mean about working oposite shifts etc, we have the problem that hubby is away alot, he is due back tomo after being a way almost 3 weeks and its only going to get worse with his work leading up to going away for 6/7 months in april!!!

Leanne whats norethisone? Iv not heard of that before? Isn't it strange how all GP's and FC do different things first or second etc. As iv not heard of that drug, or having hrt done to regulate periods.

I have my fingers crossed for you all that we get our well deserved BFP's.

  • A nice little lovely story incase you havent seen it...not heard of the other herbal tablet she talks about but worth sharing.

  • Hi all,

Good idea Faye- the last thread was getting a bit complicated!

As for me, I'm 33, DH is 30, married for just over a year, ttc for 2 and a half years with a m/c in Sept 2009.

On day 7 of 2nd round of 100mg clomid- ovulated last month, but had stupid fight with hubby and didn't BD at the right time!!! So we're hoping this month will be the one!

Correction! This month WILL be the one!!!
  • Hey Faye Norethisone is like provera it is used to bring on af and as for the hrt i think they were just trying to balance out my hormones!!! Who knows like you said its weird how different docs do things very differently!!! xxx
  • i love it Windy PMA thats what we need!!

Its great your ov on clomid atleast you know thats sorted and its a case of getting the timing right. I am just as excited thinking about finding out im ov!!!

No fighting this cycle....just lots of bding!!!!

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • Oh i see Leanne i thought it was like metform taken with clomid.

It is sooo weird how different docs do this. I would have thought there would be a set procedure they all should follow, but i guess they all might think what would work best is different.

Well i guess who cares long as they find something that works!!

I think i am now on cd32 with no sign of AF apart from a few cramps....so im hoping i will get my second natural AF soon!! xxxxx
  • ok guys i am just about to start my second round of clomid. my first was 50mg resulting in day 21 bloods of 0.4 which is very low. my doc told me to up the dose on month 4 if i hadnt ovulated. My question is should i up the dose this month as my levels were so low or do you think i need to be a little bit more patient and let the clomid get in my system months 2 and 3. I just dont want to waste more months and no ovulation if you see what i mean. Not sure what effects higher dose would have either. But feel i have a underline problem with low progesterone because of my lack of periods etc. Had bloods done in Oct last year and levels were exactly same of 0.4 which is what is making me think i may need some sort of progesterone boost. What do you guys think???? Sorry for long ramble. Just not sure what to do for the best as im not due to see consultant now til Jan :? :?
  • Hi Leanne,

That is pretty low, isn't it. But I don't know what the levels of progesterone should be in a normal phase in your cycle. Because if you havn't ovulated, you won't produce progesterone, as it is produced from where the egg is released on the ovary (the corpus luteum)as it breaks down. (well, it is in animals, anyway!!).

As for increasing your dose, I have to admit, I would be tempted if I were you. Although we really shouldn't completely ignore what our Drs say!! But it does seem that most people have their dose upped immediately if they are not ovulating on the lower dose (and I was started on 100mg once a day)

Did you have any scans done to check if you had any follicles? It would be interesting to know if there were any, even if they didn't release an egg.

Only you can make that decision, though and there is the risk that you over-stimulate your ovaries and produce multiple eggs. Let us know what you decide.

    xx
  • Leanne lovely....i wrote a post exactly the same as that myself!! I was started on 50mg and i aksed if i should just up my dose for the second cycle myself.....most said they would be tempted some said shouldn't without docs say so!!

I however being me i just did it!! so second cycle i upped my dose too 100mg and low and behold my doc who is brilliant had contacted my specialist about me and they had agreed that i should up my dose next cycle......which i had already done!! and im kinda glad i did otherwise id have had to wait till cycle 3 to up it as i was already on cd7 having taken 100mg before they even told me too! ( Hope that all makes sense! )

BUt i guess it did no harm but also did no good as i still didn't ov and im now on the waiting list for a lap and dye and ov drilling!

It is up too you hunny, i always find going with what i think is best normally works for me. Docs aren't always right. But maybe worth calling your FC and asking them if you can up it. That way you can find out the details of why you shouldn't if they say no, or why you should if they say yes.

    No harm in calling them

  • Good idea Faye,

hey all, i'm 32 and hubby is 24. we've been ttc for 2 years and 9 months. i ovulate every month, hubby has strong boys. i've had a lap n dye n they found endometreosis and got rid of it!

i'm on my 4th cycle of clomid 100mg. get 10 day scan every month and am making 2 large follicles monthly and having injection to make sure i ov. consultant says i have everything there but is baffled as to why its not working...me too!!!!! just started reflexology which i love purely for the relaxation side of it!

i am filled with lots of PMA this month. my therapist and my consultant have both told me that i've become incredibly negative about this all recently thats why its not working so i'm i'm trying to be very positive and get my long awaited bfp! we're bding like rabbits this month so its gonna happen. i'm currently on cd 15 so i'm in prime time

nice to meet the new ladies to this thread

    hannah xxxx
  • Thanks Faye. Yes I think reflexology def helps. I ve been having acupuncture for 2 years. Its really good, although it didn't regulate my cycle It shortened length of them as I could be on for up to 8 weeks! I think any treatment thats relaxing will always help. Good luck everyone this month! Im trying to be positive but have moments where I thinkm it will never happen but Im trying to ignore these feelings and stay positive. xxx
  • Hi Girls

Its a while since I have logged on so its great to see this thread as I'd never catch up on the old one!

Lovely to see the ladies I recognise (though I wish you werent still here in the nicest possible way!), hello to all the ladies that have joined since I was last here image

As for me im 30 (just!), hubby 32. We have been ttc for over 3 years now. I have PCOS and am on round 4 of clomid. Scan on round 1 showed it was working but i've just been left to get on with it ever since. Have stopped doin ov tests as I seemed to get a strong line all the time and it was stressing me out!

Im CD28 today and am sure I can hear AF knocking so it looks like onto cycle 5 I go. Have my next fertility clinic on the 20th of this month to see whats the next step.

Hope you are all well xxxx
  • Hi girls

Sorry not posted for a while, been having a little bit of a break, and just got back from 2 weeks in Mexico and now raring to go again! Good idea to start a new thread Faye, i couldn't even remember where everyone had got to! And nice to see u back too Miss Shell.

As for me, 27yrs...and hubby too. Been married 4yrs and TTC for 2yrs. I'm a midwife, have wanted to be a mum my whole life and always had a feeling i'd have fertility problems. I have PCOS, currently about to commence my 4th month of Clomid & Metformin, which has only made me ovulate once...I'm going to stay on it for upto 6months and if still unsuccessful, i'm being referred for IVF...although I really hope it doesn't come to this!

It's lovely to chat to people in similar circumstances because fertile people just don't understand!

Baby dust and good luck to all

  • Hi ladies...ive been in TTC after mc for a year now (lost baby a year ago today) feel its time for me to join your club. Im 41(arghh) have 2 grown up (well physically anyway)sons and got remarried 2 years ago. I have had bloods done and seem to be ok, hubby has had 2 SA tests done, first one not so good but 2nd better. Was told by a psychic that we wouldnt be able to have any more kids (just after mc, nice eh?) and I feel that it has left me so negative that somehow this has stopped us conceiving again.. That being said when we return from our hols (in Turkey just now) im going to go back to docs and demand a referral to gynie unit. Docs are a bit rubbish and just keep fobbing me off.

Anyway look forward to getting to know you all and celebrating some long awaited and well deserved BFPs soon xx
  • Hi. just joined on recommendation of my cousin.

It is great to hear from other people who are in the same boat as me, as everyone so easily talks about how they got pregnant easily and how great there kids are, but noone ever talks about the negative stuff, unless they have been there or know someone close who has.

Been TTC for over a year now, after I got married and came off the pill. Had endo symptom straight away and just had surgery to remove it. Bowels were riddled and they had to take a chunk of it away, but womb, ovaries and tubes were completely clear, which is fab! (And the surgeon said also unheard of as normally if it was that bad on my bowel should have riddled with it but wasnt! I put this down to the Reiki and herbal treatments I had been using as the NHS was taking sooooo long to do anything about it!) Am recovering now.

Good to know about the reflexology. Been having acpuncture which was recommended to me and 5 weeks after surgery actually have a period which is good as most people I have spoken to say after a lap it is normal for it to be 3 months. I want to regulate my hormone levels as endo means high oestrogen and I have other symptoms which also could be attributed to it - acne for example (i'm 32 - think I should have got over it by now! ).

Also, thanks to this thread, will go back to my GP to see what she can suggest. Don't know if the Clomid will help but was told that my ovaries are polyocystic when I had a private scan, although had private blood tests and my ovary function was fine off that and also my other halves little men were also tested to be good. He had to take some antibiotics as it turns out he had a long term prostate infection so that was good to know.

Been mostly trying to be positive. I know I will get pregnant and just know it is a matter of time. We don't want to put any pressure on ourselves as we want this to an anjoyable experience. A close friend of mine who had 12 miscarriages and now has one (grown-up) son, told me once that it was not worth making the total focus of my life as it will swallow you up - there was so much more in life to be grateful for. She said if I took that attitude in the end I would get there when I was meant to.

Initially I felt like there wasn't more to life, but I knew she knew what she was talking about. So I sat there and made a list of all the great stuff I have in my life and what I could do with my life until I got pregnant; which was hard to do as the endo had made my life hell for 10 days a month. And you know what, it really helped! This is a major aspect of my life but I don't want it to be all my life is about. As a result I am actually really happy at the moment.

This is despite certain people being negative about me getting pregnant - my aunt who had a hysto due to endo keeps banging on about not to worry if I don't have a child despite me saying that I don't believe that and don't want any negative comments - she even insinuated to my sis that when I went in for my lap that she thought I would have a hysto as she was the same age as me when she had hers. Thanks for the negative thoughts! But then I realised that was more her problem with the way her life turned out than mine.

Also being told (by family members and medical people) that I may have not suffered if I had got pregnant when I was younger and not focused on my career. I would have either had a child with my awful ex or when I was single and only concentrated on my career as I was reliant on myself! I only met my man a couple of years ago, which was just the way it was meant to be. Its easy to judge if your life panned out easily. Not that I should be judged even if I had chosen to leave it so long!

It has taken me a few months but I have got my head round it the right way I think.
  • Hello, does anyone know if each cycle is the same length when on clomid? Im on my 2nd month of taking it and the first gave me a 29 day cycle(compared to my usual 60-70 day cycle) and am wondering if this month will be the same. Also its a daft question but do you need to bd every day in fertile week or is every other day good enough?
  • Hello ladies,

Ok this is me: 37 oh 35. TTC 18 months,we've been married for nearly 2 years but together for nearly 4. I had/have endo but like few others womb, ovaries, tubes clear, endo was mainly deep in my pelvis. I was told there is no reason why I can not get pg, but it's been such an emotional journey. Oh SA came back perfect.

I am on my first round of Clomid, 50mg - so will see how that goes. Close friend of mine got pg on her very first round of Clomid, but to be honest I am not that optimistic!

Hope to chat to you ladies, will still have to go back and figure who is who though.

Lots of baby dust to all!
