Another newbie!

Hi Girls,

I've been a member over on the ttc board for sometime now, but have been popping over here more recently reading posts so thought I would introduce myself!

I'm 31 yrs old and my husband is 30, we've been trying to conceive our 1st child naturally for over a year now, not that long in the grand scheme of things i know, but feels like an eternity to me! Especially when friends and family seem to have fallen pregnant pretty much straight away without really trying!

I was on the contraceptive pill for over 10years and was on a tri-phasic pill for the last few years due to problems with spotting & migraines.

My cycles came back regular (26days) straight away, but went a bit awire after Xmas (33-35day), so had CD2-5 bloods done in March and they came back fine. My cycles have settled down again to 27-28days, but still no wiff of a BFP.

I'm currently using a CBFM and temping to confirm ov and have tried various supplements such as EPO, royal jelly and preseed over the last 12months. Probably trying too hard now, but never thought it would take this long!

Hubs and I are going to go back to the docs this week to see if they will do a SA for him and get me checked out further!

Looking forward to getting to know you all more, but hope we're not all on here for much longer!

BFP wishes to all xxxx

  • Welcome Vickster, my fellow chart stalker!

Hope your stay on here is short x

I've been coming on here lately, not as busy as on ttc, but girls are lovely!

    xxx
  • Hi vickster hope your gp can help you out and give you some answers why it's not happened yet
  • Thanks girls!

Well we went to the docs today and it went fairly well, they said they've changed the policy again and won't refer us to a clinic until 18months, but are going to do inital checks in the meantime, so i've got my form for a CD21 blood test and he has referred me to our local hospital for a pelvic ultrasound to check my ovaries.

Plus hubs has got his form and sample pot for his SA, just got to phone the lab and arrange for him to take them in!

So we'll just have to see what comes of them!
  • Hi Vickster!

Can't believe they won't refer you! Bloody cuts! Don't get me started! lol!

Do you know if that is across the board or just in your local NHS trust? Which part of the country are you in/.

Totally selfish question as after my lap for endo I was going to the GP next tues to ask for a referral for fertility, as the NHS sensibly don't treat repro related illness and fertility together, and we have been trying since last May, which is not 18 months. image

And hun, a year is a long time in anyone's books. Anyone on here who has been waiting longer will sympathise rather think yoy're being silly xxx

(The only person who has ever got on my nerves in this regard was my OH mates wife who nearly ruined our Xmas night out as she hadn't got pregnant on the first month they tried as it didn't fit in with her work schedule! Lets not even go there with what was wrong with that! lol!)
  • Rachey, thanks hun!

In answer to your question I'm in Warrington so as far as the postcode lottery for fertility treatment goes its one of the worst to be in! All forms of IVF/ICSI were suspended last August, i think they're still doing investigations and offering clomid etc, but even if/when we do get referred they'll be a huge waiting list I'm sure!

We'll just have to wait and see what happens with this first lot of tests!

Hope you have more luck with your GP/PCT! Have you had your endo treated then hun? My friend had it really bad in her early twenties and after have it laser removed has conceived both of her girls with no problems whatsoever, so hope it all works out for you too v.soon x
  • Hi vickster

do you know where the fertility clinic is that they refer you to is? If you do it is usually quite easy to find out waiting times
  • Thanks Vickster! Took three attempts to see the correct specialist for the endo, bearing in mind we have a major hospital for treating female problems in Southampton, and only got it as my poor GP went to one of his lectures and spoke to him about me! Its all the paperpushers that mess it all up. Just wouldn't surprise me if it happened to me too that all!

Thanks about your mate's story, makes me feel better. Prob had it for at least 10 years but been on pill until last year so was not picked up on. Had it all removed now - (privtaely otherwise would have been another long waiting list!) and all tubes and ovaries were untouched, so am really lucky. Just want to have all my options open to me so back down the docs to be poked about at! what fun! lol!

Let us know how it all goes hun. Thinking of you xxx
