1 ovary with pcos success stories please...

Hi I'm 26 and been ttC for 13 months after 8 months and lots of test I was referred for a scan, they found a cyst on my left ovary. I had a previous 6cm twisted one on left ov removed in 2006 which was borderline. The one found In April was already 5cm and growing, after ct scan they decided if had to be removed along with the left ovary and tube. The right ovary has pcos. I'm just looking for people out there that are in a similar situation either only 1 ovary or with pcos on remaining one. It's a long shot trying to find someone in the same situation but I'm really looking for support and or success stories !!

  • Hello my stories a little different to yours but here go's for the past year i was in and out of hospital due to intense stomach cramping and pain so intense that i couldnt walk for week i had numerous of tests, ultrasound scans to find that both my ovaries were riddled with cysts the last scan i had showed up that i had 11 cysts on my right ovarie and 8 on my left. I had an operation in feb earlier this year to remove one that was 8cm and had ruptured and leaked fluid into my womb. (but i chose no to have my ovaries or anything removed as it was such a huge decision the make at the age of 18) Because i had so many cysts they were unable to see if my ovaries were PCOS however i was then put on a course of tablets for 3months to stop my ovaries from working therefore cysts shouldnt produce. But when i had my scan on the 7th August this year my ovaries were still covered but i got told i deffinately didnt have PCOS so was looking into more threatining situations like ovarian cancer (as it runs in my family) Also got told i will not be able to have children (im 18 years old) Alot to take in.
But last week i didnt come on my period and found out im pregnant and im around 4 weeks, its still early stages and theres a huge % that i could lose the baby but i have yet to see the midwife and have tests. So Keep your hopes up! I wish you all the best, i know what you are going through!

  • Hi newyoungmummytobe! wow you've gone through a lot, sorry to hear this, my first large cyst was removed 2 months after my 19th birthday, I was not ready to have kids then but gyna asked every year when are you going to have a family ?? I was t ready, when I was discharged in 2011 he said I will menopause early possibly by 30!' That's 4 years away!! My new gyna the is that's rubbish?! so I don't  know whI to believe?!? Huge congratulations to you in your beautiful news !!! That's a lovely surprise !!! I was really hoping I would wake from surgery to be told sorry we can't operate your preg, but. No that didnt happen. Really looking for someone with pcos/ 1 ovary so that I know I'm ok to be hopeful. All the best, good luck x

  • My mum has PCOS on both and has me and my younger sister and brother and has also had cervical cancer, also when I was in hospital 2 women on my ward one was 35 and had PCOS and had 1 ovarie removed and had a child and another 25 and had 2 children with only one ovarie, so don't think that your never going to have children. Tbh my gyna said that to me that I was going to menopause early too, but then I changed gyna and they told me different things! At the end of the day all you can do is keep trying, mine wasn't planned but there's no way I'm getting rid of it incase it's the only one I'm able to have, I really do feel for you and you seem to be getting a lot of different feedback from you gyna, have you thought about fertility treatment? I know if you've been trying for a year and having conceived the NHS can help you? Maybe you should contact your GP and discuss what options are available to you! I really wish you all the best and hope you get pregnant soon x
  • Hi thankyou for the response. I am already under the fertility specialist. I was refereed there in June. Had apt in July my BMi is 42 they won't do anything until its 35- I can then get chlomid, it has to be 30 or loved for ivf, which I will only get 1 lot of funded treatment, anything further will be 3k a time :/ I don't have that sort of money. I'm just hoping by nov I can start chlomid abd that I don't need ivf. Whenever i talk to family they tell me to just adopt yet that is not an option yet as I really want to feel the baby grow and move and give birth.
