Anyone starting clomid?????

Hi Everyone,

looking for support and others going through same process as me around same time so hopefully someone will reply.

My story is I have PCOS and do not ovulate. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 15 so always new I may have difficulty conceiving when the time came. Me and my husband (married in oct 2013) have been trying for 3 years. We have been for all the tests back in sept 2013 we were told that my bmi had to be below 30 for IVF. It took 9 months for my appointment so I used this time wisely to try and loose some weight. I had my appointment last week and although my bmi wasn't low enough for IVF.... it was low enough to be prescribed clomidimage im so excited.... im due on in next 2 weeks so I will start on CD2. trying not to get my hopes up too much but not stopped reading success stories on here.

Hope to hear from some of you going through same things....

  • hiya kayleigh, im also going through the same problem!

my periods have always been irregular from an early age, never really thought anything of it until i literally missed a whole year of one, doctors told me in december i had pcos but mine was genetic as most women on my mums side of the family had it.

i had a natural pregnancy and birth in 2012 to a beautiful little boy, but now me and partner are ready for another. ive been hospital which to be quiet honest they fobbed me off, and just put me on metformin.. took it for a couple of weeks and had to stop as it just didnt agree with me, couldnt even get out of bed in the morning i felt that ill. not long after i decided to stop taking it i finally had s period, WORST TIME EVER! it lasted 2 whole weeks!!  i have a period now and again they have been worked out to be 49 days apart, but 3 days late on this month, dont know what to think as i dont want to exite myself.. for ut to be just another month missed, brought a test but really debating to take it or not as i have a hospital appointmet tomorrow morning to see how everything it going and if i need to be put on anything else..

so hopefully i can try clomid heard alot of positive feedback from taking it,

hopefully it works for us and anybody else that is taking it..

    share your coments..

  • Hi, I was diagnosed with PCOS as a teenager also and was warned then I would find it difficult to conceive, since starting my periods at 13 I've never had a cycle and only ever had 6 periods i'm now 27! Came off birth control 3 years ago TTC but nothing happened, never had a period etc. Finally had all the scans, bloods done again and officially diagnosed with PCOS. Started on clomid last month after taking provera to bring on a withdrawal bleed. First month was a failure, no ovulation, no nothing, even though I had every symptom of pregnancy under the sun, apparantly though the side effects of clomid are also pregnancy symptoms...! Very upsetting time, had to get another script for provera to begin the whole process again and this time the clomid is going up to 100mg. And also I swear everyone around is getting pregnant!

  • aw, must  be awful for you! image

i had my hosp app today and they still tried to fob me off, tried putting me on the pill which would defeat the whole object of sitting in that room!

may help my periods but would stop me becoming pregnant, so in the end they discharged me and reffered to gynogologist to see a fertility specialist so i know the balls rolling now just need to wait for a letter!

i asked about clomid and they said that it wasnt an option for me at the minute so told me to start taking my metformin again.

best thing to do is to keep going doctors complain and play on it, thats what i did and they reffered me straight away, there is hope for us its just taking longer than it usually would. i done my test tonignt and it came back negative... againimage. its so heartbreaking, wish i didnt take it so there would still be that little bit of hope.

everyone i see is pregnant all my friends are, wisg i could just lock myself away until im finally pregnant

we'll get there soon enough, just got to keep trying image x

  • Hi Ladies,

Thanks for replying to my post. It is very hard and upsetting cant tell you how many pregnancy tests ive done over the years with nothing. I would defiantly recommend sticking with the metformin as this should regulate your periods so they come every 28 days once your cycles are settled they should then put you on clomid as long as your bmi is under 35. if your struggling with your weight the metformin will also help you with this too. Metformin has very harsh side effects I was really bad on them but it does ease off eventually. My advice would be to start off with 1 500mg tablet after a meal once a day. then increase slowly to what your doctor has advised you to take. I know how bad the side effects can be but it will be worth it just to have normal cycles. im still waiting for my cycle to start so I can start my clomid soooo excited. dink77 really hope the 100mg works for you keep us updated.

sending my very best wishes to both of you xxx

  • Hi Ladies, Well I have just completed my first cycle on clomid, had my blood test on Monday (CD23) just rung to get results and my levels are at 2.8 which my nurse said shows I havnt ovulated image. I too have had soooo many pregnancy symptoms id convinced myself it had worked. Really am gutted I havnt ovulated cos I was taking ovulation tests every day and one came up as positive. so I thought it had worked!!! oh well just got to wait now for next cycle where I too will be going on 100mg and then have my bloods done again on day 21 and day 24. Hope It works next time.

  • Hey honeys.. Not been on here for a long time, - Kayleigh 6, sorry to hear that honey, just remember it's still your first cycle all good things come to those that wait! Is what I've told myself, a friend of mine is on clomid and her first cycle didn't work for her but 6 months down the line she's finally pregnant! So just keep thinking positive!

I had my first appointment with my gyno yesterday morning, what I thought would just start off as a consultation turned into me having an internal, my partner has got to do a sperm count which he can do at home, and I've been out on provera to make me have a period as I haven't had one since June! He told me that the first day of my period I'm to ring the hospital to book me in for a scan within the next 10 days to check my womb and Fallopian tubes, on the 2-4th day of my period I'm to have a blood test done, and my partner to do the sperm count for next week,my next appointment is the 6th December, so I'm exited to start the provera, just have to see what all happened within the time image

We'll get there Hun, it's just a longer process for us, as much as I want another baby I don't really think about it anymore as it was causing to much stress for me which isn't good.

Nothing's impossible, keep up with the updates and let me know how your getting on image xx

  • Hi all. I have been on 50mg clomid now for 4 months. No ovulation. Gynea moved me to 100mg for 5 days. I ovulated, i felt it. 4 days after ovulation i had a very light bleeding when i wiped for about y hours . Now its all gone!could that be implantation bleeding? Im so confused and so tired of getting excited!
  • hi Shani,

Defiantly sounds like implantation bleeding to me. when are you due to take the test??? Well my first round I was convinced I had ovulated and didn't. this time I have had no pains or anything so doubt I have ovulated. we have however had a wonderful weekend in venice for our first wedding anniversary. it was nice to be distracted from ttc. hope its worked for you shani. im on day 18 now so 2 week wait ahead now image

  • just got the results of my 21 day blood test, and ive OVULATED!!!! im so excited I could burst. My levels were 8 on 50mg they have now gone up to 41. Nurse said anything over 30 means you ovulated. Very happy just hope I get my BFP this time.
