Time to see a fertillity spealist?

Hi,
Im new to this forum, myself and husband have been TCC for 13 months, I really really thought I was pregnant this mouth, I did a test the day after AF was due, it was negative and now this morning AF arrived

My husband really doesn't want to see the doctor, personally Im a little scared at the thought of all the tests, but Ive just turned 30 and really want to start our family, I wounder should we try another month again and buy an ovulation predictor (we havn't tried that yet) like he wants to do or should I just drag him to the doctor..

Really appreciate any advice or anything anyone know to boost chances of concieving!

  • HI indie and welcome!!

The first thing that is important is not to worry - easier said than done I know. It's a bit of a cliche on here I know but it really does just take some people longer. Were you on the pill? I see a specialist at Zita West (a naturopath fertility clinic) I've been trying for the same time as you and my specialist keeps telling me that the pill does really stay with some people for longer - despite what gps say. In fact, she says that in germany they won't even do fertility investigations until you have been off the pill for two years! I've had regualr periods since i stopped it but she thinks i've only oved the last three months!

So there might not be anything wrong with you at all. It can be hit or miss with Gps but mine has been good. She has taken blood on day 5 and 21 of my cycle to check hormone levels and my oh has had his sperm analysis - everything was fine apart from one of my hormones is slightly off - probably nothing but i'm having a scan to check. And now we have our referral - which i must get around to filing!

I haven't tried a fertility monitor but I have used OPKs which made me realise I was ovulating a lot later than i thought and probably missing it!

One of the girls posted this for me the other day when I was having a wobble about the fertility clinics. I'm a total control freak so for me it's fear of the unknown and this guide really helped:

  • Hi Rach,

Thanks for your response, its good to know we're on the same time scale! I havn't been on the pill at all (except for 6 mnths 9 about years ago!)

To be quite honset Im still postive about everything at the moment, it would be great if we could be pregnant by christmas! Its great to know there's somewhere to talk about everything, as its funny though I'd tell almost everything to my close friends this isn't something I feell I want to talk to them about.

Thanks for all the info as well!
