Laporoscopy / Hysteroscopy - my story

I started having heavy and very uncomfortable periods from the age of 16 and had been on the pill for 17 years. Came off the pill last August with the view to TTC. Started getting bad pain from about a week after my period to the third day of my period. had 28 day cycles but the suddenly a 42 day cycle. Finally decided to go to the doctors and was refered to a specialist, due to pain and the fact I am 34. As prime reason was pain not the fact that I had been TTC for 10 months - I went on my private medical insurance. I had Ultrasound showed polycystic ovary on my right side and Endo on my left side. Consultant booked me in for a Laporoscopy / Hysteroscopy.

I went in to have the above done a few weeks ago and found that instead of Endo and polycystic ovaries both of my Fallopian tubes were attached to my ovaries and therefore completely blocked. My surgeon has detached them and everything now looks healthy. I have to go back in a few weeks and he is going to prescribe me Clomid.

Worst thing about the op was the fact that the filled me with liquid, so for 2 days after the op everything I bent forward or lay on my side the liquid came out of my incision and I looked like I had wet myself!!! I have two incisions - one just below my belly button and one on my bikini line!!

I have just returned to work after a week's recuperation and and feeling a bit swollen still and uncomfortable sitting for too long but have lots of PMA.

good luck to ayone having a similar procedure xx

  • Good luck with everything Gerbera.....

I have my Laparoscopy on the 12th which I'm very nervous about, but am also hoping that they will be able to find a reason to our not getting pg with 16 months or trying.

Keep in touch and let me know if you get that BFP!! They say that there's a really good fertile window after the op!!

    Fingers crossed

    xx

  • update - just been prescribed Clomid. Fingers crossed it works for me. xx
  • Good luck Gerbera. I really hope it works for you.
You hadn't mentioned if you were already OV'ing, or if the Clomid is to get you to that bit. Only reason I ask is that I've heard they prescribe Clomid after a Lap whether to are already or not.
AF arrived for me last night, so a little down as was hoping for a miracle this month so I would have to have my Lap & Dye on the 12th.
Could I also ask, how was the op?? I'm really anxious about mine.
Really hope the Clomid does the trick for you.

  • Thanks Babyhope I was ov'ing before hand but because I have started having long cycles (and my surgeon recommended it) my GP gave it to me yesterday and also some tablets to force a period as I am about 9 weeks this cycle. (was 28 days and then suddenly went to 6 weeks)

sorry to hear about AF, at least you will find out what is happening - if I hadn't have had my surgery I wouldn't have known that there was no way I could conceive and wasted loads of money on Ov sticks and PG tests.

Op was fine, I would recommend that you get signed off as I found sitting at a desk even a week after the op was hard (don't know what you do).

I had General Anesthetic, I am glad as I am a bit funny about hospitals! are you having General or local?

Good luck with yopur op - I hope they give you the answers you need.
