1st Doctors Appointment

Hi Girls, I have just moved on to month 15 and hubbie wants us to go to the doctors at the end of this month if it doesn't happen. Can anyone tell me what to expect, should I take anything with me, I have been temping so I guess I will take that.

To be honest I am terrified. Part of me would rather bury my head in the sane and ignore all this.

Sorry I know some of you have been on here much longer than me xx

    Hey socks,
Me and DH are on to month 14 now and we went last month to the GP. Luckily we had a really understanding one who was willing to help straight away.
First appointment is pretty simple, i was just asked about my cycles dates etc. I then had my day 21 bloods done the week after and then my day 2 bloods the other day. They also like to do your triple tests (3 vaginal swabs) just to rule everything out. He referred my DH for his SA and we just got the date for that through the post. Good luck!!!!

Hi Socks, sorry you've got to the stage of going to the Drs. I was scared too when we decided it was time for us to go - it's like admitting that there might be a problem. Anyway, once you go, all thart goes away and you feel happy that things are happening and moving in the direction of having a baby!

When we went, we both went. I was given 21 day bloods the next day and OH had SA date sent through the post (it was about a 10 week wait). After this we were referred to the fertility clinic where the Specialist took swabs from me and an internal plus I have had 21 day bloods done again. I have to have an HSG and DH has to do another SA - both at the end of June - and then we go back to see specialist in August.

The GP didn't do a great deal other than arrange the tests. Mine was good but I think he understood that he was not the expert!

Good luck with it and hopefully this will be the step you need to get your BFP.

    Hi Socks.
Think you are doing the right thing and I would see your GP now if your hubbie agrees. It cant hurt to get the ball rolling straight away. I had day 2 fsh tests done and then day 21 tests and my oh was referred for a sperm terst which was done really quickly. We got referred to the fertility clinic which was only a 6 week wait image As the girls have said, take with you anything you have charted inc temps and cycle lengths. It helps them to build up a picture.

Very best of luck to you, hope it will make you feel really positive that something is being done image

    lots of love, bluebird xxxx

I went to my gp a couple of weeks ago and he didn't ask too many specifics but he referred my hubby for an SA (which he did the week after and got his results today) and he's referred me for blood tests which I'm having on Friday. It helps knowing that we've taken a little bit of control over the situation. Good luck xxxx

    Hi Socks

Totally understand where you are coming from its like when you go to the drs you have to admit that you might have a problem and that ttc may not be straight forward for you image However first appointment at drs is nothing to worry about, she'll prob just have a chat get the ball rolling do a few bloods and hopefully send your oh fro a sa if she is on the ball. Your better going as if you get a bfp in the meantime all well and good but if not you want treatment to be sooner rather than later. Good luck x

When i went to drs, he sent me for 21days bloods to start off with, came back abnormal, not ovulating, then referred me to fertility clinic!
Try not to be scared, your defo ready to go after 16mths, we've only been trying 15mths and we're now on clomid.
    Good luck xxx

Hey, thanks for your replies girls it is really helpful. My husband actually had a docs appointment for something else and so he asked a few questions whilst he was there and I am not sure they are going to help us. I have regular cycles and my temo charting is text book, plus I have had an mc so the doctor just said we were obviously a fertile couple and we obviously weren't doing it enough. What! Most months we do it every other day for the entire month but at least for the middle two weeks over ov. My husband said that we always to every other day over ov and he said it was pointless trying to target it. He said if we really were worried we should make an appointment with the female doctor. Feel even more frustrated about it now. Plus we had a row last night because hubbie doesn't want to go for IVF if that is what we need so I said there was no point going for the appointment. When did this all get so stressful xx

Oh gosh, Socks. Sorry you didn't get what you wanted to hear. I would DEFINITELY make an appointment with the female Dr. You need to for your own sanity. They MAY tell you to wait a year from your mc (so sorry about that - I remember when you went through it). I would still push though.

Don't worry too much about the argument. God! Me and DH have had a few! And try not to think too far in advance. You may not need IVF and your DH very well could change his mind if results of tests etc aren't what you'd hope (although I hope everything turns out fine).

Keep pushing and don't let them fob you off. And you're in good company - LTTTC is VERY stressful!!

We are all here if you need to have a moan etc. I think we've all done that at some point. Men are not necessarily all great in these circumstances so the girls are always here!

Thanks Mrs H, we are actually almost a year from the mc. I lost the baby on the 2nd July last year so we wouldn't have long to wait if that is what they said, that is partly why I was going to wait a couple more cycles before going.

Thanks for all the info, I really am grateful. xx
