FAO MRS JULES

Hi there,
Sorry to be nosey but OH is asking about your OH/Hubby's SA results.
He wants to know did he smoke, drink coffee etc?
And if possible could you tell us the results of the first and second test as he would like to see what changes can be made.
I hope you dont mind us asking.

Thanks, Lulubell xxx

  • Hi Lulubell,

We didn't get the exact results for the first one as they went straight to the GP - who basically just told us he had the following:

    Normal Count
    Normal PH
    Normal Volume

Motility & Morphology was the problem areas with higher than normal abnormal forms and lower than normal rapid mobile forms (only 35% rapid progressive and 5% rapid non progressive)

The second lot we got a copy of the letter from the fertility centre:

    Hubby Normal Ranges
    Volume: 4.6ml 2 - 6ml
    Density: 40 x 10 6/ml >20 x 10 6/ml
    % Motility: 82% >50%
    a)65% b)12% c)5% d)18%
    Progression: 3/4 >2/4
    Abnormals: 71%
  • Wow, thanks for that. Didn't understand all of it to be honest. I think the one my OH had was more basic.

    volume: 5ml
    motility:40%
    abnormal forms: 88%
    count:16 million
    Mar: negative

    What do you think?

many thanks for sharing your results,
    Lulubell xx

  • Hi Lulu,

Well looking at your hubby's results compared to the normal ranges it looks like (and I'm no expert here!) that his volume is normal, motility is below normal ranges (as was my hubby's in his first test), abnormal forms are slightly higher than normal ranges (same as my hubby's first test).

I've tried to make it clearer in my original post too - so RED means the "normal ranges by WHO" and BLUE is my hubby's results...

After the first test I put my hubby on a range of supplements (his diet isn't great as he often skips lunch at work so doesn't eat until he gets home and then he is starving so snacks too!)...

    Vitamin C
    Vitamin E
Selenium (which hubby thinks taste's like poo  )
    Folic Acid
    Vitamin B12
    Zinc
    L'carnitine
    Coenzyme Q-10

These (according to my fetility books) are all essential to the proper development of sperm... worth a try right, even if hubby does rattle when he walks :lol:image

    J
    xx
  • Hi MrsJules,
Many thanks for that, it makes more sense now.
OH is on supplements as well so hopefully the next test will be better.
    Cheers, Lulubell xx
