2nd miscarriage - your help please

Ladies, my sister had a miscarriage 3 months ago she was only at the 4 weeks but never the less after LTTC to get pregnant was amazing. Sadly again she has miscarried, she did a pg test last week and it was BFP but then had the symptoms started as before with the bleeding etc and the Dr confirmed today that again she had miscarried . I have no idea what she needs to do or where to go, I have advised her to go private (she is 40) and see what she can do in order to be able to carry.

Ladies, please do you have any suggestions or help. I am so upset for her, my sister since we were little has only ever wanted to be a mum.......and a flipping good one she would make. I dont understand why this is happening.

Thank you so much ........my poor mum, she has this going on with my sister and im about to start IVF as have not been blessed yet either......I dont think I can feel any lower.

Any help you could give me would be so much appreciated.

  • thanks to those of you who have viewed my plea for a bit of help and left nothing.
  • sorry for you and your sister.im 37 myself and have had two missed mcs in last year.although in my case i have children.all i can suggest is get the thrombophilia test done and the hormone levels progesterone and oestrediol.somtimes there is no real answer and as my doc said to me just pure bad luck.ive met people whove had losses and then still had healthy babies. my mum was 45 nearly 46 when she had my sister!!! im sorry you think noone answered.its not that noone cares its just to try and say something constructive cos we all here know the pain of it and have heard some silly remarks so dont want to do the same to 'one of our own ladies' hope things work out for both of you xxxxxx
  • I'm sorry about your sister's two losses. I had a miscarriage which is called a chemical pregnancy same as your sisters in March. I got pregnant again in aug and I am now 18 weeks pregnant. I don't know why it happens either. I have read from my research that it can be like the prior post sometimes not enough progestrone, there is a test for this. This test was done my second preg and the numbers were normal. Also, I have a friend who has had two miscarriages and found out now after going to a specialist that it is due to a blood clotting disorder so when she ttc she needs to take a baby aspirin. I don't know the name of the test though. These two are causes for early miscarriage. Also the oestrediol test mentioned above I believe is used to message egg quality. Her husband might want to also get checked out because unhealthy sperm can cause miscarriage too. Hope you both a pregnant with big bellies soon.
  • hi Mrs Bee,
I don't know if this will be helpful but I had read that acupuncture can help with fertility and mc. I'm willing to try anything.
Just thought I would share as I have heard of many success stories!
Hope things get better for you.

  • people may have opending the thread thinking you needed some support, then realised you wanted advice that they couldnt give, which is why you didnt get replies initially.

it is common to have miscarriages whch is why the docs dont do anything until you have had 3 usually, alhough different circumstances cant promt them sooner. i have pcos and they began fertility investigations and told me they were going to give me clomid after one chem preg and one early mc. every health auth is different too.

i got getting pregnant faster by marilyn glenville http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1856267601/ref=sib_rdr_dp
which gives advice on what you can do to i9mprove your conception chances after mc and what tests to take. there are diet suggestions and the obvious like dont drink any alcohol (either of you) or smoke etc.
  • Hey, can't really offer you any advise except that she is going to need a lot of support. I am a fellow lttc'er who had a mc at 6 weeks 17 months ago and nothing since. Problem is that most of the time there is no reason for an mc. it is just something cruel that happens to quite a lot of women during early pregnancy, most are unexplained and most will go on to have pefectly healthy pg's soon after. I really hope your sister is ok, if she needs to talk send her our way. THis website has really pulled me through some tough times and given me some really constructive advise at times xx
