Potential miscarriage or breakthrough bleeding?

i was bleeding and having cramps for about a week and 2 days, and i went to my doctor whom sent me for a pregnancy test with the ideas that its either a miscarry or breakthrough bleeding from my birth control (even tho i’ve been on it for 2 years)
