Bloody typical Totally OT

Last night our downstairs circuit breakers tripped and we weren't able to sort it out, even with an emergency electrician. We managed to get the kitchen back on at least, so thankfully my VERY precious EBM was saved! Two electricians attended today through our BG homecare cover and they have condemned our fuse box and recommended a full downstairs reside and new box, quoting ??900 just for the box and ??3000 for the total rewire!!!!!!! WTF!???? Where the hell are we meant to get that kind of money from???? And that doesn't include replacing all the laminate flooring they'll gave to rip up and associated plastering, skirting boards and redecorating to the whole ground floor!

Sat here now waiting for my regular sparky to come and quote, and was meant to be going down to my Mum's till Thursday so have had to cancel all plans!

So, now the list of stuff that needs doing in this hellhole of a house is:

1) rewiring
2) damp proofing and replastering kitchen
3) replace joist to entrance hall
4) redecorate lounge, dining room, hall, stairs, landing and kitchen
5) buy new mattress before my back completely disintegrates

FFS! Will it never end!!!!

Oh well! At least we are all healthy!
