My babys breech and it's Decemberr next week!!

Hi ladies

just felt like saying that after next week whenever someone asks when we are due we will be replying 'next month' ...ain't that exciting?!!

Also At my regular Mdwf appt last week, I got Checked by a student midwife who said my bubs is breech at the moment...I'm not too worried as still time to turn..

Howeer it didn't occur to me at the time that my normal midwife who was there, didn't double check to see if te student midwife checked me properly...so I'm a bit unsure still if that's the case

luckliy my boys Playgroup has a midwife drop in session so I might just ask her to have a quick feel of my tum to confirm. I generally feel kicks right at the bottom of my bump but also movemet elsewhere so I haven't a clue where any bits are lol

thinking about hospital bag, plan to use my boys stuff, anyhing extra I plan to buy after boxing day in the sales! May be I'm pushing it but i really think this bubs will be late like m last (I was induced!)

sorry for boring u girls I felt like posting, getting more excited , times flying can't wait to meet my baby image

My first was breech and the midwife sent me to the hospital for a presentation scan. The night before the scan ( 37 weeks) she turned!! Apparently ( and i don't know how true this is) but if it's a girl, it will turn, if it's a boy it won't. generally because boys are bigger so don't have the room to turn.

  • My first was also breech... she turned 2 days before my presentation scan too! She was quite big at 8lb7oz considering I had such a tiny bump! When she did turn it was so bizarre!

I have another scan a week tomoz so Im hoping this lil one has stayed head down but have a feeling it turned the other night!

This pregnancy has gone so fast... its exciting! Ordered my double pushchair last night too. Id like an early bubba, so before xmas, but if it holds out then great as long as it dont decide to be born on xmas or new year!

  • I had my 34 week mw appointment today. The baby has been head down for weeks yet today they found it to be breech. This is my first baby so a little concerned it won't move back down.

I am now frantically bouncing on my exercise ball!! Fingers crossed they all turn the right way.
  • Hi all

    thanks for replies

well I got checked again today and it's still breech

Mdwf said they'll do a c section at 38 weeks if it still hasn't turned by then which means I could have him in Dec!

i'm having a boy so I hope the boy girl theory is wrong! My last baby was 8 lbs5 but he was overdue by two weeks so perhaps baby will turn

I'll do my best to make it turn, will def be disappointed if I don't get my vbac , ah well.it's a shame they don't have anyone who can deliver breech babies I have heard of it happening!

Looking forward to next we'd, the 1st dec will feel even more closer to b-day

    hope ur all well

  • Sb, is it a full breech? Mine is extended, so head and feet upwards with bum down. Three mw said I could still have a natural birth.
  • Hi gingerpoodle

she didn't say but I assumed feet were down and head was up and midwife didn't disagree

so I think it is full breech, yes

glad you can have a natural birth!

  • id be concerned that mine was breech but i permanantly have a foot stuck in my rib she seems to have a preference for the right side of my body and i cant bend or move...still plenty of time for babies to move ladies and might take longer if not first baby x
  • Mine loves my right side too, and quite happily flicks her feet about behind my belly button. I wonder why they prefer certain sides? X
  • not sure but i know it gets quite awkward and its always from about 6pm onwards as in the day it doesnt hurt to bend as much.....i had consultant clinic today and apparently im 3/5ths engaged at 33 weeks.....least i know im not going mad about the heavy dragging feeling in my pelvis now lol
  • weirdly enough i went to the midwife today and guess what...little boy is now breech - how funny! I'm probably going to shock you all by saying i'm delighted! I want him to stay that way so i can have a c sec! I am terrified of having a large boy baby. Hubbis is 6f2, large head, very broad shoulders ( think rugby player) so the thought of pushing out a boy baby terrifies the living daylights out of me.
  • Well, I've been to an Acupuncturist and I've been burning a stinking herbal cigar by my little toes for a week. I've been doing inverted dives off the sofa as well as pelvic tilts and I've even sat in a rather warm bath with an icepack on top of my belly. All this and bubs still prefers to be head up! 4 1/2 weeks until D day. Let's hope bubs decides to.move.
  • gingerpoodle really!!

are they going to scan u at 36 weeks?

my mdwf said she would with me, and if still breech would opt for c section...

i havent really tried anything , keep thinking i have loads of timr and that baby will turn itself as i heard that most do.........ive heard the prostration position works, with your head on the floor, it worked for my sis anyway...

i have a mdwf check next week when i will be 34+6 so will post latest then!

good luc gp and everyone else trying to turn!!!

  • Hiya,

Can i join in? I've had some conflicting info so dont know what to think.

On saturday I saw my best friend from school who is an SHO at hospital and she is specialising in obs and gynae and so sees pregnant ladies all the time and does examinations, deliveries etc. She didd a proper examination on me and was very firm (as I've heard drs are, much more than midwives) it was uncomfortable but didnt mind cos wanted to know where bubba was. She was adament that baby was head down and 2-3/5ths engaged, back and bottom going up my left side and feet and arms coming out on right side. I was very happy with this and got quite excited.

Monday i then went to routine mw appt and it was my mw who seems quite shy when ive seen her before and can lack decisiveness iykwim? Anyway, didnt tell her about my friend but asked her baby presented and she had a quick, very light feel but nothing like my friend and then said she wasnt sure if it was baby's head or bottom down by pelvis and she def wwasnt engaged!!! She said she'd feel again in 2 weeks and if still unsure send me for presentation scan.

I soo dont want to be breech but really dont know who to believe? I know there's nothing to do now either way but i just wanted to know and now im confused. Who do you reckon is right?

Hope all the ball bouncing is going well and baby's are turning if you want them too!

  • G/C but wanted to say depending on baby's size & whether you've been pregnant before can affect baby's movement positioning. My 1st pregnancy DD1 was long, turned head down at around 26wks & stayed that way. My 2nd pregnancy DD2 was constantly doing highland flings from breech to transverse to head down, engaging then disengaging but she was a lot smaller than her big sister so had the room. DD2 didn't turn head down properly until wk36 & even then was engaging/disengaging constantly until I eventually went into labour at 41wks. You can encourage breech babys to turn by getting down on all fours or relaxing on your left side with right leg bent so knee touches the surface you're laying upon.
  • It's all so confusing!

Wispa how far gone are you? Will they offer you a scan at 36 wks to confirm baby's position?
  • Hey sb

Mw said she's examine me at my 36 week appointment (which is Tuesday) and if its still breech ill be sent for a scan. Would be quite nice to get a sneaky peek of bubs but id rather it just turns the right way!

Still a few weeks until d day so hopefully bubs will turn in that time x
  • Yep, have apt on 12th dec and if still unsure i'll be sent for a scan. Like gingerpoodle, it will be nice to see bubba again but would like the answer to be not breech

  • Wow

I've an appt on wed when I'll be nearly 35 weeks

Be interesting to see outcomes of our appts!

Bubs has been moving round a lot lately but head still seems to be up though I'm not very good at guessing which bit is which when I feel tum

    Best of luck girls x
  • Well ladies, I had my 36 week midwife appointment today and bubs is still trying to squeeze its head and feet into my ribcage! Got to wait for the hospital to contact me to organise a presentation scan and then see where we go from there, ie ecv or c section image
  • Iv got my Mdwf appt tomorrow so will let u all know too

Have a strong feeling it's still breech too but let's see, im 35 weeks this thu and haven't been using any techniques at all but might start tmrw if Mdwf says stil breech!

I've had friends who've had successful ecv's so it doesn't have to mean csection gingerpoodle

Will post again tmrw after my Mdwf appt!

    Sb x
