Heartbeat/gender old wives' tale!

Hi Ladies,

I had my second midwife appointment today & heard a lovely loud heartbeat which sounded just like a galloping horse. I have heard that a galloping horse can signify a girl, and a train a boy. This may sound odd, but after our 12 week scan I thought we were having a boy (no reason at all for this!), but now I wonder if it's a girl. I don't intend to find out & am more than happy either way, but I just wondered if any of you had had any experience of this phenomenon image

Hope we're all keeping well,

Dx

  • I hear mine at my 16 week appointment and it sounded like a constant woo woo sort of noise. Is this a train? I'm finding it hard to think it sounds like a train or a horse lol
  • G/C but yes the general saying is a faster heartrate/galloping horse signifies a girl (usually 140 & above) whilst a slower heartrate/chugging train signifies a boy (139 & below). It tends to get more accurate as you near & go into labour but even then there are exceptions to the rule (Was spot on with both my girls though)
