For some reason I couldn't find this forum and was wondering where everyone had gone image

My birth story......

Things started for me at about 7pm on 20.07.11 when i noticed a pinkish stain on my underwear, thinking nothing of it I carried on as normal, and it wasn't until about 11pm that I started to get cramping pains and some more spotting. My hubby was on nights so was a bit taken aback when I called him to say that things were starting to happen as I was a week before my due date. I managed with the cramps until hubby got back at 4am Thursday morning. I had timed the contractions to about 8 mins apart. I called the birthing centre who advised me that if I was coping with the pain, to stay at home.

I tried to sleep but the contractions were becoming increasingly more painful and at 5am I jumped out of bed having my waters break. I dont know who freaked more, me or hubby

I phoned the birthing centre again who advised me to have a bath to help with the pain and to reassess at 8am! The bath did nothing and by now my contractions were 3 minutes apart and painful, causing me to vomit. I put up for about an hour but then decided it was time to go to the hospital. (Its about a half hour journey to the hospital from where I live, but hubby did it in 15 mins.) He even had a police escort on standby lol

We arrived at the hospital at 6:30 am and shown to my room (very impressive) The night shift midwife bless her was trying to engage with me but I couldn't "chat" as i was too busy pacing and trying to stomp out the pain. I was talking to no one and wouldn't even let hubby touch me.

Due to the vomiting I was very dehydrated and was encouraged to have toast!!!! Yeah right. By 10:30 I decided that i needed something for the pain. I was 5cm at this point and so decided on the gas and air. It did nothing for the pain relief but I found it helped me to concerntrate on my breathing.

I spent most of my labour draped over the back of the bed (hoping gravity would give me a helping hand) with hubby holding the gas and air for me.........

At 12:42 Phoebe literally flew out. She even took the midwives by suprise as she didn't pause after her head came out but decided she was coming out in a oner!

Phew Im exhausted just reliving the experience.

Never in my life have i experienced such pain. But it was amazing, albeit I wont be doing it again. image

Phoebe is now 16 days old and I am absolutely in love with her. She is perfect in every way and everyday she amazes me.

Apologies for the long post, just wanted to share. image
