Hospital referral-FINALLY!

Hey girls,
I hope everyone is well & although with recent events on baby forum we're still checking in here.
I havne't had a chance to sit down & set up a FB account as I want to do it properly but I wanted to let you know that I had Ellie with the HV yesterday and her weight has dropped from 16lb 6.5oz to 15lb 12oz in 2 weeks. This is a drop from 25th centile to 2nd centile so the doctor checked her over & said there is nothing physically wrong with her that he can see so he has referred her to the paediatric specialist in the hospital for a 2nd opinion.
I'm so relieved that I might actually get some answers and if she is just an awkard child i'd rather know than risk continuing to feed her foods that are causing her pain.

Stress levels are high but we're just getting on with things there's nothing else to do really!
Developmentally she is great, she has started climibing, standing for a few seconds unaided, brushing her hair when I give her the comb, attempting to put the shapes into the shape sorter, taking magnets off the fridge & replacing them again...just generally all the wee things babies of 10 months are doing so I know that her weight isn't affecting her brain at least!

    sorry to hear about her weight dropping hun, its such a worry when it comes to weight. Although sounds like she doing really well. Erin is doing well although seems to have stalled everyone has been telling us how she will be an early walker because she started crawling at 7months but now she has mastered the crawl and climb really well she isnot interested in walking at all.

    Let us know how you get on at the specialis although i'm sure you have a wait.

    oh no...... hope you get some answers. sounds like she well advanced for her age so no worries there. If it helps my Lauren was teeny. She was referred for bone age scans etc etc.. tested for everything going all to no avail. She was just built like that. I gave her iron and mulit vit drops all her younger years and by the time she was 9 she was in the minus centile. Now, just days before turning 18 she is about 5ft 3 and a size 8. she eats like a horse and is never sick.

    make sure you dont leave till you have the answers. Dont let them fob you off.... good luck.

    Sorry to hear that you've got this worry - although as the others have said, i'm sure she's probably just built this way. Lucky devil won't have to watch she eats when she's our age bless her!

    Make sure you don't leave until your 100% happy though. Just follow your instinct - you're her mummy & you know best.
