Routines?
Just wanted to check back and see how many people have started a routine with their LO and how they are getting on with them?
I tried doing a routine with Zach early on but it didn't really work and we found it very difficult to stick too, but it may have been that he was too young. Now I'm doing a bedtime routine around 7 - 8 which does seem to be working, he will fuss and stir for about 30 -45 minutes but will fall asleep or will just lie there quietly until he falls asleep.
I've recently started reading Gina Ford, has anyone else been looking at this? I do find it very regimented and think I'd find it a struggle to keep to it, but I have found that her advice of feeding him more during the day is helping him to sleep longer at night; the last 2 nights we've had 6 hours in one go. My only criticism is that she is very pro-breastfeeding, and all her routines are directed at b/f, not bottle feeding like me, so I would have to adapt it to suit us and would worry whether I was doing it correctly!

7am feed
11am feed
3pm feed
6pm feed and then bath before next feed
9pm feed and then bed time
3am feed
Spencer has his naps in between the 7,11 and 3 feeds
I put him to bed later than recommended so that he only has one night feed, he has to be sat up right for up to an hour after a feed so it's easier to just do one.
We're still getting used to the routine but i right it all down on a weekly plan so i can see if theres a pattern day to day.

At the minute I think Riley's having a growth spurt because he's constantly wanting food and is really unsettled, especially in the night I've had to bring him in our bed with us at some point the past two nights to get him to sleep.
Also I can't get him to wake and sleep at the times she says in the book. I woke him at 7am this morning fed him and he just went back to sleep and is still asleep now so then he'll be awake later when he's supposed to be asleep!
Another thing is that he always tends to fall asleep when I feed him and sometimes its hard to get it all down him so then he just wakes up an hour later for more food!
Sounds like a good idea to be writing it all down though and see if theres a pattern to his sleeping. He might just like a lie in!

I read the book and found it too regimented, the only part I've used is feeding at 7am then every 4 hours which seems to be working at the minute. Bedtime is between 7 and 8, we then have another feed at about 1am then down till 6am - Amelia then has an hour in bed with me!! In the day I let her nap when she wants, i can't be strict with set nap times as we're always out and about and when amelia is over tired she is sooooo grizzly!!!
Its nice to know we all seem to be doing about the same

I can't force naps or feeds as he just grizzles all day then!xx
