Newborn Feeding?

Hi girls...
Sorry I am just constant "question" after "question"
but as a new mummy I really want to make sure
I'm doing every thing 100% by my beautiful daughter!

Feeding: Poppy was born at 36weeks... And so was very
weak when born- I had to feed with breast,express and formula
every 3hours!

She is now 2weeks old... And usually feeds about every
4hrs or so!
Today she fed at;

0635, 1105, 1300 so I was thinking she would be
due a feed at 1700 but she's still asleep!

Should I be waking her for feeds OR shall I just wait
until she wakes? I'm so confused?

Poppy is yet to cry for a feed... She just has wiggles
when she wants feeding! X
:\?

  • hey sweets - i think, as Poppy is still so small, I would be inclined to wake her for her feeds to help her maintain her blood sugar levels. Izzy was a little bit on the small side when born and i had to breast feed and top up with formula every 2 hours. My midwife told me at the time not to let her go past 4 hours as sometimes small babies wont tell you when they are hungry and are generally very sleepy. That is why their blood sugar levels can drop as they are not giving us the 'cue' to feed them. In the beginning I would set my alarm to make sure i fed her every interval. Now she is a little bit bigger, im led by her more. Hope that helps! x
