We're having a boy and I have shingles...

Had a private gender scan on Wednesday and we're having a boy!

I am getting used to the idea although he's a lot harder to buy clothes for than my daughter was at this stage!

Anyway, am getting used to the idea and was all up spirits then went to the docs thismorning because I have a pain in my leg and a rash and they have diagnosed me with shingles.

Beside myself with worry. The Doctor is getting back to me now as they don't know what to do!

Anyone have any experience of this?

xx

  • Ouch poor you! I don't think it's harmful to the baby. I know my mil had it and it was really horrible, so you have my sympathy. As it's the same virus as chicken pox I think you could give chicken pox to someone who hasn't had it before, which would be harmful to a pregnant woman. You can't give someone else shingles though, as far as I know it just occurs randomly in people who have previously had chicken pox.

Congrats on your little man though! We found out at 20 wk scan we're most likely having a girl, but we're going for a 3d/4d scan in a few weeks and are going to get them to confirm.
  • congrats on having a boy hope the shingles clears up quickly and they can give you some answers.
