Blood shown on early scan...anyone experienced this?

I went for an early six week scan yesterday as I was experiencing pain and they wanted to rule out ectopic. Baby was shown with heartbeat in the right place but the they did say there was also blood on the scan, which they said could be the beginning of the end or could sort itself out. I am still experiencing really bad morning sickness and was hoping that this was a good sign...just wondering if anyone else had gone through something similar? x
