Really struggling here! 😢
My little girl turned 3 in July and is still not toilet trained I believe this is due to her having 2 water infections when she was younger. The 2nd time we took her to hospital with it, she was 2 and in nappies, but the hospital refused to treat her without a 'clean sample' (straight from her in to a pot), which is impossible at that age. They made me sit her on a toilet in the hospital and basically hold her there until she done a wee. She's now petrified of the toilet and thinks it will hurt her if she wees. I can put knickers on her all day and she will hold it in until she's dancing around in pain. I really don't know what i can do to help her get over the fear

Sorry to hear your daughter has gone through such a stressful situation. My daughter didn't toilet train till she was 3 & a bit & just wasn't ready before that. Luckily she'd been happy to sit on the toilet for quite some time before that but it was co-incidence if she did anything in there.
Can you try taking small steps like rewarding her for sitting on the toilet. Using stickers, little chocolate treats (we used minstrels even though I swore I would never use chocolate to reward!!) or something she loves. Then when she's comfortable you can move onto the next step. Good luck
Thank you so much for replying. We've tried every trick in the book to get her to wee on the toilet. We've made a slight progression recently, she will actually sit on the toilet now but just will not let that wee out. We have 'knicker time' every day, when we take off her pull up and leave her in knickers for a few hours, but as soon as she needs a wee she just starts getting really upset and starts scratching at her legs. It's so hard trying to reassure her that it will be ok and not hurt. If she can do it once, I'm hoping it will be the breakthrough that we need 😢 She has a reward chart for every step she does e.g pulls pants and pull up down, sits on toilet, wipes, washes hands, dries hands. Just got to keep trying I suppose x
I'm glad to hear she's taken a step in the right direction. I guess she'll take it at her own pace. Really hope she figures it out soon that it's not painful.
Will she wee in the bath? I know it might sound silly but when I nervous to go to the loo after labour I found pouring water from a jug over me whilst I went. I wonder if that might help (or be an added complication?)
Good luck, it's tricky but there really is no rush
