is it ok to eat shop bought sandwiches with mayonnaise?

does anyone know if its ok to eat shop bought sandwiches with mayonnaise in then when pregnant? im vegetarian and find it impossible to find sandwiches without mayonnaise when we are out and about (its all egg mayonnaise, cheese mayonnaise etc!) and the packets never say whether the eggs are pasteurised! the same goes for soft cheese. i think Philadelphia says its pasteurised but the cheaper supermarket ones don't! i avoided all thee things last pregnancy as i wssnt sure but it makes life very difficult!

  • All I know that it should be pasteurised. You could always ask the shop?
  • Most mayonnaise in shop bought sandwiches is pasturised so you'll be fine I'm sure.

  • Mayonaise in shop bought sandwiches will be pasturised-only fancy restaurant homemade mayonaise will be non-pasturised and to be honest all eggs in the UK are samonella-free so very unlikely to make you ill!
