As someone whose name can be spelt many different ways but my actual one is not the 'usual' spelling it is a total pain in the bum. If my name was unusual people would double check the spelling but as it is a fairly regular name people don't look. I've had to send back bank cards, change it at the GP/hospital, on work ID cards and email. It's such a nuisance and I've always said if/when I have children I would make sure their name could only be spelt one way
I like both but prefer ar. I'd probably go for whichever is the most popular spelling on the ONS list for the last few years, assuming there's a noticeable difference between the two.

My name can only be spelt one way - but people still get it wrong!

I really really like the name and prefer the er spelling, I also think the ar spelling sounds a bit posh. Also really like the shortening of Cass.
