We have an Angus and I love it, although sometime I do worry its a bit old mannish.  It does totally suit him though and gets commented on a lot (especially by old people!)  My H is scottish, I'm not, but we do live in Scotland.

Bertie was on my list, but my H didn't like it.

Obviously I love Seth and think it's quite an old mans name, but H's 97 year old aunt told me it was peculiar so maybe not?! Recently I've decided I like the name Abe if we have another although these are maybe more biblical theme than old man.

Other people I know with boys who have old names have Sidney, Wilbur, Wilfred, Stanley and Albert (known as Albie).

    My neighbours have an Obie.

Not sure if it is old man though.

Rupert was one we talked about a lot, I still really like it but not sure its a particularly strong name like george or arthur......hmmmmmmm

Counter - The neighbours' boy is just Obie.

Could be short for Obadiah though.

Some of the ones I can think of at C's school are:

Sydney and Stanley (who are brothers)

Archie and Alfie (also brothers, although there are 4 Alfie's just in C's class so quite a popular name these days)

Winston is a FAB name (I think Billie Piper has a Winston). It is what we call J, as he resembled Winston Churchill when he was born, and it stuck. When I have called him Winston when out and about, a few people have commented on how lovely it was. Daren't tell them his real name after that...
