Thanks for all your replies ladies, was very helpful and was looking forward to the idea of using one now but I couldn't get any replacement pads for it (she doesn't have any!) and as I'm on borrowed time (note my ticker) can't order any online! Shame as she was willing to sell for £22...boo but never mind!
I used one in my labour with Zoe. I was very negative about it and didn't think it would do anything but it was actually really good. Gave me a chance to get some rest in bed before being allowed to use the pool, I used it for a couple of hours and it was def worth it.
If you are keen to get one I think Boots and Lloyd's chemists sell them, if you were to sell on eBay after it'd probably only cost the same as hiring one.
