How did you tell him?

I'm in the mood for a nice story. I would like to know how you told your OH that you're pregnant. I was suppose to start my period on the Wednesday, but I was 2 days late. It felt like my period will start any minute, so didn't suspect anything. The Friday night I told my hubby that I will do the test the following morning and had a large glass of wine just for in case... When I saw the plus on the test the next morning, I was speechless. Showed it to my hubby and we just sat there, staring at it. After about an hour it hit us and we were over the moon! Best day of my life.

We were on holiday in Florida and I put the tiredness and late period down to the heat and walking around the Disney Parks all day! After I was a week late, I couldn't resist anymore, so I sneakily bought a pregnancy test at the supermarket, whilst everyone else was shopping (we were on a family holiday...15 of us sharing a villa so privacy was a problem!!). I waited until after we had had our BBQ then did the test. When it came up positive I was so shocked as we had only decided to try a month before and had only got married two months before. My husband was mucking around in the pool with my nieces and nephews, so I patiently waited for him to get out! I just said that I had something to show him...his face was a picture! I had never seen him smile in that way before, it was very special and very sweet. We then had to try and carry on as normal in front of everyone! Problem was, the day before I had bought a four litre bottle of rose wine for us all to share.......that was difficult trying no hide that I had stopped drinking! xx

We decided in November to start trying for a baby and naivley thought it would take a few months. Didn't really think much about it, but I started to go off my food and then we went to my Husband's family for Christmas. As holidays always are, it was hectic, didn't really have much of an appetite, but still it didn't dawn on us. Started to feel sick in the mornings just after Christmas, but still the alarm bells didn't go off! When we gotr back, I went shopping with my Mum and again felt really sick. Got back home and met my husband for lunch and he casually said to me 'Maybe you're pregnant?' We both laughed and thought it was highly unlikely!! We went and bought a kit in Boots and I went into the toilet and did my business. We set the kitchen timer for when it would be ready. I was in the bathroom when it went off and my Husband was making a drink in the kitchen. I looked and saw it was positive and when into the kitchen with a huge grin on my face. He asked what it said and when I said it was positive we just looked at each other in disbelief. Then we both started to cry and we just hugged and I'll always remember he said to me 'Aren't you clever!' That was on Saturday 30th December at 3pm and we had to wait until the Tuesday to go to the doctors because of the Holiday Monday! My husband was desperate to tell his parents but I wanted to wait until I'd had it confirmed at the doctors. It was hard because we decided not to go to a New Years Eve party because we wouldn't be able to contain ourselves (and it would have been hard to hide the no drinking from friends) and we also met some friends out Shopping on the Monday and they must have thought we were strange because of the stupid grins on our faces!

my periods were never regular...the month before we found out i was expecting i was 2 weeks late but test was negative. so the next month when i was over 20days late we didnt really think much of it and didnt worry about doing a test for quite a while!! but then i said i better do a test just in case, thinking it would be negative again, and my OH didnt want to get his hopes up as the last time he was very disappointed. i done the test and made him wait downstairs, then when i saw it was positive i walked down the stairs pretending to look sad so he would think it was negative again (mean i know!!) then he said 'its negative isnt it' so i burst into a huge grin and said 'i hope your looking forard to becoming a daddy as we are going to be parents!' he was so happy he burst into tears, so im thrilled with the way i told him just to see how happy he was. x x x

I came of the pill in December 2005. We weren't exactly trying but decided to just see what happened. I thought it would take a couple of years as I had been on the pill so long. I never had a period from when I stopped taking it and in October last year I woke myself up a few times in the night trying to sleep on my tummy, but it was really hard. I went to morrisons on my lunch hour the next day and was walking past the preg tests so I bought one thinking that there was no real way that I was. I did the test in Morrisons toilets and shoved it in my bag. When I got back to work I sneaked a peak at it and it was positive!! I rang Ben and just blurted it out - he was so shocked. That night he kept saying he didnt want to get his hopes up incase it was a mistake, so I got another test the next day and that was positive too. This was on the Wednesday but i couldnt get a doctors appointment until the following Tuesday. That week everyone must have thought we were very odd as we couldnt keep the smiles from our faces!! We decided to wait till I was 12 weeks to tell anyone and worked out that the baby was probally due in June or July this year but when I went to the doctors he had a feel of my tummy and said I was between 22 and 24 weeks pregnant!! I had no morning sickness, and because I hadnt had a period I didnt miss one!! I went to the docs in July with a coldsore that wouldnt go away and told him I hadnt had a period for 6 months and he said that was normal when coming off the pill. I had put 5lbs in weight on but had been on holiday 3 times over the summer and just thought it was from that! It never crossed my mind that I was pregnant till that day in the supermarket. We told our families that night and everyone was so excited! Baby Reece arrived in February so I had a nice quick pregnancy! Jo x

After an ectopic preg last july we were told that we only had a 60% chance of having a baby and a 30% chance that it would be another ectopic and as it had taken years to conceive that one we pretty much gave up 'trying' although we didn't use contraception. After the advised 6-8 weeks of using protection, I was waiting for my third period and it didn't arrive! I had negative tests for two weeks after that and was convinced that my body had been messed around and I was simply not pregnant. One morning I was dreadfully sick so took another test and it was positive!! I came downstairs and told my OH who could only say 'wait til you've had a scan' and 'don't get too excited' I was gutted but after an early scan It was confirmed and we just cried with happiness!!! I am due in 8 weeks!! Claire xx

After my mc we didn't actively try for a baby but didnt use contraception. One day at work I bled pretty heavily and had to change...it lasted 12 hours...it sort of confused me so I did a test a week later and it was negative...the next week I took another when we were in the bathroom (I had even had half a bottle of wine!) and it came up positive although really faint. I did 6 more tests that week but each one was faint so i took a sample to the drs and they tested. Turns out I found out I was pg at 3 weeks. He cried and had a whisky! LOL!

First time round, in tears, to hear the response "oh sh|t!" Didn't bode well and marriage fell apart when son was 8 mths. This time, after it taking 9 months to get there, with a text saying 'come home now' and hubby was greeted with a mug of tea (what, you thought I was going to let him drink champagne without me???) a thin blue line, and me dancing around in a g-string which started the celebration in a very appropriate manner...

Well, my pg wasnt planned and when i text my OH to say i thought i might be pg i said it the text "im scared what should i do just wait until period comes" and he text back "do a test now and then we will know and im scared too as we are no way near ready to have kids!!" well, that me feel so much worse! anyway when i did the test i started crying but luckily i had a friend with my who was over the moon and said that my OH would b too once he got his head around it. When he came back from work i think he could tell staright away as i was shaking like a leaf!! so i just kinda showed him the test and instsantly his eyes lit up and a huge grin spread across his face and he said "im going to be a dad!!" and hugged me! it was so crazy the shock of it all. i only realised i was happy after i'd told him because it hadnt really registered before as i was so worried about telling him! anyway, now its sunk in we r both so excited and happy and have talked about the not being ready part....its happening now so we are gunna make sure we do our best!! still a bit scared as we are both only 21 but emotionally commited and i think that is what counts xx

my oh had asked me in bed the morning of the day i found out if i'd had my period yet and i said no, he asked how many days overdue, oh only 9!! he couldn't belive i hadn't told him, but i was convinced it would turn up, every time i'd done a test before that it turned up the following day and i'd be really upset, but he told me to go out and get a test that morning, as he was playing football. i can remember going into boots to get it and feeling like a naughty teenager and trying to hide it!! when i got home i needed the loo, so went and did the test and before i'd even finished a blue cross came up which meant it was positive, and started crying immediatley!! i was in total shock. i had to wait a while to see him so i called him straight away and told him he was going to be a dad. i then waited for him to come home, but in the meantime my brother-in-law turned up!!!!! i had to hide the test and then he wouldn;t leave, when oh got back he was still there, and decided to have a coffee before going home!! couldn;t wait for him to go so we could get our heads round the wholeidea of me being pregnant!! when he eventually left my oh was over the moon, and now we can't wait to meet our baby boy, 12 days left!! Em xx image

We hadn't been trying for a baby as children weren't something that was in our plans. i was on the Pill and never thought that i would be in the minority of people who get pregnant while using contraceptive pills. My period was almost a week late which was longer than usual it would normally only ever have been a couple of days late. I had been due on the Monday so when i was in town on the Saturday i bought a pregnancy test in the chemist just to rule pregnancy out of the equation before i went to the doctor about my period being late, although i bought the test i didn't think it would have a positive result!! I had been reading the instructions and my other half seen me reading them. I think it made him abit nearvous at the prospect that there was a slight chance that i was pregnant. I had planned to do the test on the Monday but i had felt really unwell on the Sunday and i decided that i would rather do it while Robert was at home than do it the next day when he'd be at work. I was just coming out of the toilet and i met him in the living room and i asked him to time three minutes. He found my nearvousness quite funny when the three minutes was up i looked at the test which was positive I was quite stunned and slightly speechless so i just handed it to him. i was scared and teary for a while but i think most of it was because i wasn't sure what way he was going to react but he just laughed!! I had the pregnany confirmed by the doctor the next day and given a day or two for it to sink in we both accepted it and now we're both really happy about it and as i've only 8 weeks left i'm starting to get excited. I have turned into a right wee mummy bying things for the baby etc and when she's born i think i'll miss being pregnant! lolimage. xxx

We had only been trying for 2 months and in September af was due on the Tues and I had a feeling I was pregnant the Sunday before. As I was going to Gibraltar on business on the Weds (which involves a LOT of socialising, drinking and smoking etc...) I decided to do a test on the Tues morning that af was due, as if I was pregnant I didn't want to be abusing the red wine.

I only just wee'd on the test and it came up with a BFP immediately, I shouted to my hubby that I was pregnant and he came running in with his bowl of cornflakes nearly choking!!! Was really funny seeing the look on his face. I was shaking and crying with shock, was a fab moment and one I'll never forget.

We hadn't been trying as I was on the pill we had been discussing starting to try once our house move was finalised. I was a week late and did a test it came up positive I couldn't beleive it so i went to boots and bought two more clear blue digital. My Hubby was on my brothers stag do and I had to wait for him to come home. As he walked through the door I told him my I hadn't come on my period yet he didn't quite get it. He said youu should do a test I said I have and its positive he seemed a bit shocked. He said he knew what I was saying but it didn't sink in straight away. But once it did he couldn't stop smiling. We decided to keep it quiet until we reached 12 weeks which was really hard as my brother got married (told everyone I had a bladder infection) and we had to go out for my mums 50th Birthday (I drove). Eceryone was so pleased when we finally told them. We have only got 7 weeks left and we can't wait I've never seen my hubby so excited. Claire x

We had been trying for a couple of months but I thought it would take ages and I was really rubbish at keeping track of my dates, so when it started to get towards the end of November and I hadn't had a period, I tol, my oh and asked if my boobs looked bigger! He told me to wait a while and not get my hopes up, but that weekend, I made him buy me a test kit. I was so nervous, I made him loom at it for me and he couldn't work out why I was so suprised! he just said "Well, what did you think would happen?!" He's really excited though, we are due in 8 weeks and every so often he just turns to me and says "We're getting a bayyybeeee!" image
