longitudinal lie?

hey girlies - just got back from seeing the MW and she's written on my notes that baby is cephalic and longitudinal. i know cephalic means head down but have no idea what longitudinal means. i've read what it is somewhere before but really can't remember. and she's not engaged yet - naughty baby! i really thought she might be a little bit cos i've had loads of pressure down there but no. grrr
any help is appreciated!
