High blood pressure 1st trimester

Hi, I am trying to find out if anyone else has suddenly been diagnosed with serious high blood pressure during the first trimester? I am pregnant with my second child and have never suffered with high blood pressure, when I was 7 weeks pregnant I did not feel well at all, Had my blood pressure checked for a 2 week period and it started in the 90's but ended in the 100's. I have since been put on Mytholdopa to reduce this but it still remains in the high 80's even low 90,s. Doctors are of no help as they tell me not to worry as it cant be pre-enclampsia as I'm not 20 weeks (now 15weeks though). Has anyone else come across this as I am quite worried as to the effects it will have during the rest of my pregnancy.

  • Please both of you keep an eye on yourselves and even if you feel you're annoying the doctor go and see them if you think there is something wrong. I nearly lost my son through Pre Eclampsia - he was born at 28 weeks weighing 2lb 0.5oz. If you get any headaches, blurred or disrupted vision, pains in the top part of your tummy or any unusual swelling please see someone. If you want some more info on PE and how to try to prevent it please reply and I shall tell you what I know. I am part of a PE group so if I don't know I know someone who will.

  • Thank you both for you response, i was beginning to think it was just me. I have had lots of problems with my doctors and the antinatal clinic, one will say theres nothing to worry about, the other will say that i need specialist care. I am currently being tested fo tb aswell, my urine constantly shows white blood cells but no infection. I was refered to see a specialist by my doctor for my first antinatal checkup, there was a list of things the doctor wanted checked but when i seen the consultant he looked at the blood pressure (which was down for a change pluss on the medication) said everything is fine we will see you at 30 weeks as there is no need for a follow up. I had to tell him i was on medication , he checked my notes and said oh so you are, went out of the room and came back in saying he was fully aware of the medication as hed read my notes before i came in, Itold him he was lying as if hed read the notes he would be aware of the letter from the doctor, he checked again and again started to back track when he seen the letter. I was totally discusted and told him I was not putting up with it so he got the senior consultant to come and see me. She could not appologise enough and went through everything, the excuse that was used for my treatment was the other doctor was on his first day working there. Now I have been booked for extra scans and regular check ups with the consultant. It doesn't make me feel very good knowing this is the way things have started, the hospital has only just been taken of a supervisory order for the maternity unit!!
