Dark brown discharge at 6-7 weeks. Normal?

hey ladies! Sorry for too much information I am just a little nervous, for the past week I have had brown spotting, literally light to dark brown, my friend said it's normal as everything is changing around up theye but it's still very scary, also doctors say brown spotting is normal too but I was wondering  what causes it
