Nursing bras/humongous boobs!!

Hi everyone, i was just wondering if anybody would be able to give me some advice. Ive really been small in the bust compartment i was a 38dd when i fell pg and im 27weeks now and ive already gone up to a 40e. This is my first baby and im hoping to breastfeed but im worried if they get much bigger i won't be able to as my e bras seem to be getting too small now!! does anybody know how many cup sizes bigger is normal?
Also i want to buy some nursing bras for my hospital bag so im prepared but i just don't have a clue what size to get??? :\?
i dont know if anybody out there who had already been there can give me some useful advice... it would be much appreciated thanks xx

Hello Han, I would advise you to put off buying a nursing bra til about 36-38 weeks as your boobs may still grow again even now and when you have had your baby your boobs may grow or stay the same but your under-bust measurement gets smaller (once your bump disappears) so always best to wait

Also you definitely need to get measured for a support bra by now as your boobs are getting larger and heavier and if not supported properly they will sag later!

Finally if you intend to breast feed then please make sure you're not wearing underwired bras and they can cause blockge of your milk ducts!

Phew! I think thats about it....hope I helped.

Love from an ex-Mothercare bra fitter!! xx

I wish I could answer that for you but I'm afraid its one of those things that every woman is different. Some women's boobs don't even grow at all during pregnancy! Me however have gone from a 38E to a 40G!!! Not fair, is it!!!! xx

no its not!! still we're not alone. Oh well, my mum went up 2 an e cup and the nurses told her she had enough milk 2 feed the whole maternity ward when i was born so thats nice to know, i really hope i can breastfeed. xx

hi han.. lol.. heehee... just giggling at your comment of your 38dd boobs being small.. my sister would disagree that her 36a/b are smaller! lol :\) I was a 36C/D before my son then went to 36F, now that was a shock!! I never got the hang of breastfeeding and only did it for a week, but my midwife told me that the size of your boobs has nothing to do with the amount of milk your body can produce... I never leaked milk the whole time, my friend who had 32C boobs had milk coming of her ears!! lol :\)

My boob also never changed size afterwards to and keep to a 36FF. I got pregnant again when my son was 12 months old, I'm 31 weeks pregnant now and they haven't changed much just up to a 36G (which I'm glad, it's bad enough with 36FF!) they usually say you go up one size for your nursing bra to allow space for your milk to come in. Also I would say is that they usually say to leave it 3/4 weeks befor eyou're due to get a nursing bra but I'd do it4/5 weeks before for big boobs as alot of shops dont' stock larger sizes so you'll have to wait for orders to come in... good luck.. here's a good site to look at...

Another thing to bear in mind when buying nursing bras is that they have to guess how much you will change shape after the birth. I found that once breastfeeding was established I was a different size and none of my nursing bras fitted. As they can be pricey, particularly if you have to buy from specialists because of the size I would buy as few as you can manage with, and as cheap as you can, for thefirst few weeks and then treat yourself to nicer ones when everything has settled down.
