Going backwards with going to the toilet

Need some advise, my 4 year old seems to be going back wards in going to the toilet for a number two! He's been out of nappies now for well over a year and seemed fine at going, but now he will just have a little poo in his underpants! Even at school!

I ask him why and he tells me lies, like he's got the runs! Or that his belly and bum didn't tell him to go!

I try not to get cross with him, but it seems to be every day he is doing this now.

I know that just b4 Christmas, when he was going to stay with his dad, that they put nappies on him, but I have told them that there is no need, and that it was upsetting him.

Please if anyone has any advise image

  • hi i hope i can help a little.

my boy is almost 3 and we are having a little difficulty at the moment with poos!

BUT...two if my friends who have boys, have also had the same problem...one of whom had to put a nappy back on her child for him to do a poo, and the other's boy was so worried about doing a poo he held it in for days and ended up really constipated.

it must be quite frustrating after so long of being toilet trained to have this problem.

he obviously knows he is not supposed to do it in his pants if he is lying about why he did it...but maybe it has something to do with others' putting a nappy on him, he has just got a bit lazy...or maybe he is worried about going to bathroom in school??

maybe you could have the teachers help you and work together with them in praising him for doing it in toilet again..some kind of reward he gets if he does it in toilet??

im sorry maybe i havent been much help...all i know is that as far as i can see it is a quite common thing (seems to be with boys)..not wanting to poo in a toilet!

hope you get it sorted out! xx
