21 month old odd behaviour

He tooth grinds on occasion, constantly spinning in circles, picking his ears, headbutts myself and objects, hits his head in his hands, constantly copying adverts and TV sayings, always Hyperactive and on the go, very fussy eater and selected hearing.. Something is telling me Spd but I don't want to be paranoid and take him to the doctors if normal..

  • My Eldest was a similar age when we had her middle sister. It was only when her sister arrived we began to question things (she was our first & we had deemed it normal toddler behaviour ).

At 30mths old things hit a head-she was having meltdowns if things didn't happen as she expected to the point she was hyperventilating & giving herself nosebleeds. Our HV raised concerns on the fact she had no danger awareness  (she would approach anyone for a cuddle, she would join random people's picnics, she would physically try to move people to where she wanted them).

We were referred to paediatrics who then referred to numerous other specialists (blood test for chromosome disorders, hearing test, eye test, speech & language therapy, occupational therapy & play therapy ). A year later & all the results were pooled together to give her a diagnosis of ASD & GDD  (Autism spectrum disorder & Global Development Delay ). She is now 7 & in year 2 of SEN school.

  • I was like that as a very small child and I have aspergers so... maybe keep an eye on it.
No fear though, aspergers is absolutely fine to live with.
