Squint / Lazy Eye at 18 months

There is a history of this in the family (DH's brother and sister) and we have always noticed that DD's left eye points in slightly (it seems to be very noticeable in photos but not so much in person). Anyway, the last two or three weeks she has been stopping in her tracks 2/3 times a day and blinking a few times and then rubbing her eye (same one as the squint) and happens most of the time when watching TV. GP is referring to an eye clinic but just wondering if these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? Is the eye rubbing/blinking likely to be linked to disturbed vision?

Also, how do they examine them at the clinic (DD was not cooperative at all when the GP tried to open her eye) and what treatment do they give (DH's sister was operated on but that was a good 30 years ago - do they still do that?).

Thanks in advance. K x

Thank you so much for your reply. I did actually read it the day you posted but just haven't had a chance to reply. We saw the consultant yesterday and she managed a bit of a look and has discounted a squint and they now think it's a cataract. Am off to do a post about that now...! Thanks again x
