Should I let my 22 month old son use ipads?

I didn't want to let my son use ipads so early but I read that if used properly, ipad apps train cognitive and motor skills in young children. My son cannot focus on anything for too long, and I don't want very fanciful and distracting apps with bright graphics or loud music. Any recommendations? He gets bored of his toys very quickly and stop playing with them after a few days, so I'm looking at technology instead. Is this a good idea?
