Transition to bed/moving house

Hi everyone, my little boy is 2 in March, he is still in a cot at the moment but we think he is ready to go into a bed. We haven't moved him yet as his cupboards in his room aren't fixed to the wall and we are moving house in a few weeks so don't see the point in doing it now. My question is...at the new house do we bite the bullet and just start off with him in a bed? Or will it be too much of a change in one go? Should we keep the cot for a month or so and then get him a bed?  Opinions and advice welcomed x
