thumb sucker with very sore thumb!!!

hi, my daughter who is 2 next week has been religiously sucking her thumb sicnce she was about 3 months old when she gave up her dummy on her own. When she first started doing it got really sore then it got better and apart from a bit of hard skin on it, and its been fine until now. She has really dried it out and made crack but she keeps sucking it so i can't put anything on it. i really don't mind her sucking her thumb-its very sweet. Anyone got a lo who has got a sore thumb from sucking it so much, if so can i do anything to try and make it better. Thanks

I have 2 thumb suckers, Alice is 4 next week and her thumb is all wrinkled where she sucks it so much, she caught impetigo once and I had to bandage her thumb up untill it cleared up it was a nightmare as where she had scuked her thumb it spread on to her face as well. Isaac so far has not had any problems but I really dont think there is anything you can do to help or stop it.

Lanishol? sp?? nipple cream like halle says all 3 of mine have been thumb sucking since 20wk scan!!!!!! i make sure they wash n dry hands regularly and apply lanishol every few hours xxxxxxxxxx

hiya i rubbed on moisturiser cream after baths but there isn't much you can do really!

Give her a bag of salt and vinegar crisps lol that will stop her lol

Thanks for the replys. I have put sudocrem on it first thing in the morning and then a few more times in the day as she usually only sucks her thumb when she is tired or upset about something, so if she is happily playing i've been putting cream on it and it is helping but i never thought of the nipple cream-what a good idea, i should have thought of that as i used it when i breast fed her. Thanks again x
