safe to put baby in room with 3 year old??

hi we have a 3 year old (she will be 3 1/2 by time baby no 2 is borm in may. the two will have to share a room, at least for a year or two as we only have 2 bedrooms (although the room is big enough for the two of them), she is very excited about the baby sleeping in her room, and we have thought we will try putting baby out our room quite early as from experience anyone who does this has a child who sleeps much better, and our girl still comes through to our room 6 times a night and spends a lot of nights in our bed after being with us for first 6 months (as recommended). thing is, either we will have baby beside us for first 6 months (which is prob safer) but this means our 3 yr old will also be in with us or she will be left out, and in some ways ill feel bad for her if she is away in her own room and we are all in together. so the big question is...do we have the two of them in with us until baby is big enough to sleep in with 3 year old?...or do we put baby in with 3 year old (and she will stay in her own room all night cause she has company of baby)?...and in any case when is a child old enough to be left all night with a baby? she is a very gentle 3 year old, but you never know what she might do to try and 'help' the baby etc...has anyone got experience of this?

  • we willl be shortly moving are baby into a room with 3 year old im not at all worried as she is brilliant with him and understands what she can and cant do as for her being a bad sleeper maybe you could try getting her a glowe teddy they sell them in wollies and argos we got one for are daughter as she was the same and we told her that this was a special nonites bear and he didnt like being in bed by him self so when she woke up she had to put on his special light and lie nice and still with him till she went back to sleep she has not been in our room at night since!!!
