TTC idea as irregular cycle...?!!

I'd like some opinions on my idea for this month, forgive me if this has been covered before, as I'm quite new;
My cycle is all over the place after coming off the pill after 12 years, last months was 34 days (which got my hopes up)!
So the ovulation calculator is perhaps not my best bet just yet...! So I thought, from the day I come off my period to the day it comes back (assuming it does) we'll BD approx every other day...?! That way I should be well covered.
This should be feasible as I work from home & H is around quite a bit at the mo.
What are your thoughts? H will think the Lynx effect adverts are true!!
