Metformin with no cycles

Hi all! I have PCOS and hubby and I have been trying to have a baby. My issue is that I don't ovulate or have a cycle without medication. My doctor put my on 500mg Metformin 3x a day. Im in the middle of my 2nd month. After 3 months he is adding chlomid.
My question is: Has anyone had any success in this situation? Anyone get a BFP before cycles showed up? I don't want to test constantly, but I don't want to ignore if there's a chance I'm pregnant.
