  • Oh I see! Sorry flybutterflyfly, it gets confusing when no names are mentioned in replies lol!

  • :) I know right... sadly there are too many of us in this situation :( but hopefully between us all we can share experiences and knowledge and get through it all.

there is a thread on here called trying to get pregnant after miscarriage part 10 and those ladies helped me through it all and still do... I read the whole lot when I was recovering and was really helpful :)

  • I agree, it is so sad and until it happens you have no idea how common it is 😔 but as you say all the advice and stories from others is comforting and helpful! Lets all keep positive and strong through this tough time and know that we will have our rainbow babies soon 😍 lots of baby making luck to you all xx

  • flybutterflyfly- I have not done the pregnancy test yet, that was my next move! I thought about it after I had tested the ovulation strip this morning but had already flushed the sample, unfortunately. Looking forward to seeing that result.

Thanks for the kind words, ladies! It's nice to find a current thread and have a conversation with other women going through the same thing. Every thread I seem to come across is usually from before 2012!

  • I think this one was an old one but it's been Re opened.

sucky time for us all x

  • So I had a faint line on the HPT last night. I think that my levels are close, but not quite there yet. Hoping to get AF at my usual time in the first week of the month, and start again.

Agreed....totally sucky time. Sending positive vibes your way!

  • Ahhhhh sorry to hear that.... give it another few days and test again to see. So frustrating isnt it.

try not to put too much pressure on yourself... everyone kept going on about being more fertile after a MC and I felt like a failure for not being able to get PG straight away, but I have since found out that thats all a myth.... try and relax.... i have been so stressed and wound up about everything that I am trying to chill this month and see what happens :) x

  • Hi ladies,

How are you all getting on? Were any of you lucky enough to catch the first egg after MC?!

I suffered a straight forward early miscarriage in March, and a missed miscarriage beginning of December. After my confirmation scan, I started to miscarry naturally and passed the gestational sac. EPU confirmed uterus was empty last Tuesday. Heavy bleeding had started on the 3rd (which I'm noting as CD1). Hpts were strong for the first week, then began to fade last week. On Sunday the hpt was close to BFN, bleed down to brown spotting, and to my surprise opk blazing positive! This was CD8! I usually ovulate CD12/13, but I'm convinced it's happening early. Started to 'try' again despite the slight spotting and faint line on hpt. Think some people think I'm rushing back in, but as the original poster said, it's not out of grief, I feel really positive about the future and just want to pregnant again! Also encouraged to hear people talk about high fertility after MC... any success stories out there?

  • Hi Tammygirl

Just a quick bit of advice about opks after MC. It took 3 weeks for my HCG levels to come down and whilst even the tiniest amount of HCG is in your system your opk will be a very strong positive!

I got a negative 10miu pg test at 31/2 weeks post MC and my opks were very positive for a further 4 days. They then slowly faded and we started trying again straight away:)

It might be positive due to a little HCG being left   So keep testing to see if they fade xxx

    good luck to you🍀🍀🍀

  • Hi Tammy!

I had a d&c on November 8th and I bled for about 6 days after that. I had a strong feeling that I was ovulating around the 16th or 17th so decided to BD, even though it hadn't been 2 weeks yet (the time the dr told us to wait) and didn't use protection, even though the doc told us to use until after my next AF. However, I was still getting a positive OV and HCG test up until the week of the 21st, so my levels weren't back to normal yet. I am now finally getting negative HCG tests, but haven't gotten my period yet, and I'm on CD 35 (if I count the procedure as CD 1). I did have some cramping and one day of very light brown discharge on dec 1st, which could have been AF, but I'm not sure, so I'm just testing for OV on the daily now so I don't miss it in case that one day of weirdness was actually AF. Needless to say, I'm pretty sure that your levels have to be back to normal for you to OV again, and if you are getting positive HCG tests, you probably haven't yet. Although I'm no doctor so I have no idea for sure, that's just what I've gathered from personal research. However on the flip side, there are lots of women that get pregnant before even getting their period again after having a MC. It's all a big mind game really, haha! Either way, it won't hurt anything to try!! Especially if you feel you are ready...just go with it!! :)

  • Thanks so much for the replies ladies! I did wonder whether the opk was picking up the small amount of HCG, but I remember reading in the past that they won't pick it up as clearly as a hpt would? I did research on it because I wondered if I could use them as a cheap alternative to hpts! So in my mind, if hpt is faint, opk would be fainter still in detecting hcg. The other thing is that if I were to count back to when the spotting started, I'd be CD13 by now which would actually be bang on time?! Oh it's all a mine field and guessing game isn't it! I'm thinking you are most likely right if you also experienced strong opks for a while. It would probably be a good thing if it wasn't happening yet, DH is away all week and we only managed X1 DTD Saturday!

I take temps as well so I'm thinking that'll confirm if/when egg makes its grand entrance!! x

  • That's interesting Curly about your experience, is there part of you wondering if you are pg again?!

  • When pg or left over HCG opks are a very strong positive:)

so long as you are bd every 2-3 days you neednt worry;)

I temp too and always a noticeable shift day after 'O'

  • It's interesting you ask, Tammy, because I've been thinking it was a possibility but didn't want to say it out loud yet, haha. I've been having slight waves of nausea every now and then, but it's not consistent, and I've been extremely tired lately, and even slept until noon on Sunday, when I'm normally up no later than 8 am on the weekends! However, I have no other symptoms besides that. The first time I was pregnant I had the sore boobs, waves of nausea, hungry often, tired, etc., and I just knew right away that I was pg, before I even had a missed AF. This time I don't have the confidence to say I think I am for sure, but have noticed the couple of small things that I mentioned. I would be ecstatic if I was pg, but I'm not getting my hopes up or testing (besides ov testing) at all. I have my yearly gyny appt on the 30th of this month, so I'll get some answers there. :)

  • gyno* appt. Oh, and also, I have been testing with opk's and they are negative..I think that if I were it would be showing positive. So probably not, but it's fun to think there is a possibility!

  • I think staying positive and hopeful is what keeps me going! Things are sounding good for you. Do you take your bbt?

Angel thanks so much for the advice. i will definitely take these opks with a pinch of salt then! I think you're right and just keeping up DTD 2-3xw is the best strategy. We've been trying since last December so I'm just getting impatien! x

  • I know the impatient feeling!! Cycle 9 starting soon and driving me nuts 😖

  • Urgh, it's such a crap rollercoaster to be on! Repeating cycle of hope and disappointment. Add in the miscarriage element and it's enough to send anyone  do-lally. I wish I could feel more relaxed about it, but a year on it's still all I can think about really. Been totally coasting at work, expecting to make 'the announcement' all year! I have a DS already, and we had no problems conceiving him! x

  • Same here I've had 2 boys and a girl no problems conceiving didn't even think about it and was pg first time trying with first! Miscarried second pregnancy  then had a daughter after 6m trying then my last son after 4m of trying. Thought we'd have a 4th and I've miscarried 4x:/ . I've lost 1 @ 22weeks which was horrific another boy followed by 2 chemical pgs @ 5 weeks then this year lost another at 12 weeks. It's been one hell of a ride! 8 cycles down the line and I'm now under a fertility specialist he's fab:) Fingers crossed for our new year surprises 😊🍀🍀🍀

  • Oh my goodness you've been through it! Can't imagine all those MCs especially at 22weeks, although I'm sure they were all precious to you. I keep hearing the theory that having a boy first puts you at a higher risk of subsequent miscarriage. Let's hope we have more luck in 2017 x
