Hospital problems..... the saga continues!
Had an antenatal appointment yesterday at my local hospital. About 6 weeks ago my consultant informd me that I needed to be referred to a different hospital about an hour away until I was at least 28 weeks because my local hospital didn't have the facilities to deal with me if I had the triplets before 32 weeks.
I duly went to this other hospital for two appointments - the first one being a complete farce because the consultant I had been referred to via letter, wasn't there, and nobody else seemed to know why I had been referred. After waiting for over two hours I was finally seen by a 'non specialist' regitrar who scanned me, even though I had only been scanned at my local hospital 4 days earlier, and insisted on me having an internal scan to measure the length of my cervix, even though I protested and told her I didn't want it done, citing very legitimate reasons! Second visit was better, I actually got to see the consultant I was meant to be seeing, but only after being involved in a car crash on the way there, which meant that the sonographer couldn't get accurate measurements of the babies because they were moving around so much (due to the adrenalin and shock I suppose). The consultant promptly looked at my notes, asked if anything was wrong, and referred me back to my original hospital because there was no reason for me to be seen there again!
A few days later, I recieved a letter giving me two days notice of an appointment I needed to attend with the clinical director of my local hospital, who basically told me that if I went into labour spontaneously over night, or before my elective C-section date, then they wouldn't deal with me and I have to phone an ambulance to take me to this other hospital! He basically told me that if my consultant isn't available when the triplets are being born, then the hospital won't touch me!
Anyway, I had a regular scan and appointment with my usual consultant this week, who has apparently argued with the clinical director, because everyone at the hospital apart from him wants me to have the babies there - the consultants, pead's, midwives, etc, are all getting really excited! However, he also told me that he had put in a request for 2 weeks leave over the the period of time when I will be 34/35 weeks (i.e. when the babies should probably be born). He said that he was really shocked to have his leave accepted, as they normally have to give 9 weeks notice. My immediate thought was that the clinical director realised that this would be the time when I should be delivering and having got me to agree to go elsewhere if my consultant wasn't available, would be the perfect opportunity to get me off their books! Anyway, my consultant said that he would possibly be back for his clinic on the Thursday afternoon of the second week, and that I could be booked in for an elective C-section on the Friday, when I would be 35+3. When he tried to book this however, he was told that there are no elective C-sections to take place on this day, but nobody seemed to know why!
At the moment I've been boked in for the Thursday, but I still don't know whether I'll actually have my babies then or not, because I don't know whether there'll be anyone around who will do it!

good luck x
My legs have been so swollen for so long that even though I'm about a size bigger than I was before getting pregnant, I feel tiny! Although I have got about 2 stone to lose.
its so great without the bump isnt it???I think I wouldnt want to be pregnant again..now I know there is a chance of having even triplets after twins I will not risk having family of 5 increased to 8.
