Talkback: Is your baby a future criminal?

I think it's a great story, badly reported (& turned into some sort of 'big brother' scare story) - the scientist said "could predict" - it's the same sort of physiological/ genetic predisposition as saying that possession of the BRCA1 gene makes you more likely to develop breast cancer - armed with that knowledge, you can choose whether to have surgery, more monitoring, or ignore it. The same with kids with deafness - we measure, treat and provide intervention to help their difficulties.

Surely, it's the same situation here: if we can target kids more likely to get into trouble due to their brain changes, and treat their diet, behaviour etc. BEFORE they become criminals, it will save money & make society better. In an ideal world, everyone would be loved & well fed, but before we get to that stage at least we can target interventions!

we as humans question everything and look for awswers in places where there are no answers if we treat our kids with a kind and loving mana and teach them right from wrong show them how to behave by leading by example we will be giving them a good start and is really safe to be exposing our kids to a brain scan at such a young age

Psychologists charged with assessing the release of dangerous criminals are typically correct less than 50% of the time.

In other words, if you did the OPPOSITE of what they suggest, you would be right MOST of the time.

Now one of these useless witchdoctors says he "could" detect whether or not your baby is a psychopath. No doubt he is angling for state money. After all, our stupid politicians are always convinced by the words "could" and "might". The surveillance state marches on!
