We never did it but my daughter had hip problems & had to wear a velcro harness that made her look a bit like this

for the first 4 months of her life which was a nightmare but how all her bones are in the right places except her feet so it was worth it. She seemed to feel really secure with the straps on and it took ages for her to get used to not having them and being able to move but there is something I don't like about swaddling, not sure what. x
