Clomid Ultrasound

I had an ultrasound yesterday which was cycle day 12 after taking clomid for cycle days 3-7. She did the ultrasound and said both my ovaries were doing what they should be and then proceeded to tell me that the dr usually likes to see about a 20 on follicles to consider them a good size. The biggest she found is a 9. She then told me to abstain from intercourse until cycle day 16 or 17 and then have intercourse for 5 days straight. I am taking ovulation tests daily and still no peak. So, I am wondering if this is normal or if anyone else has encountered this and still ended up getting pregnant on the cycle.
