Does metformin regulars periods and ovulation?

Hi ladies!

My title says it all really,  I have PCOS and my periods are Crazy! One cycle will be 14 days then 21 then I might not have one for 3 months! I don't ovulate I think because of my crazy cycles. Will metformin help this and get me into a regular cycle and help me ovulate?
